In the latest round of bizarre nonsense from the failed 2024 presidential candidate and former vice president Kamala Harris, she went on an angry rant on MSNBC in which she accused President Donald Trump of trying to kill capitalism with his attacks on wokeness and efforts to defend US industry.
For reference, Harris’s bizarre comments on the matter came when she appeared on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show” on Monday, September 22, the same interview in which she squirmed while explaining to a visibly frustrated Rachel Maddow why she didn’t choose Pete Buttigieg as her 2024 running mate.
In any case, Harris also rambled about “capitalism” and told Maddow that she had hoped America’s industrial concerns would have effectively launched a coup against the president in the name of “democracy,” saying, “I am a lifelong public servant, and but I’ve worked closely with the private sector over many years, and I always believed that if push came to shove, those titans of industry would be guardrails for our democracy, for the importance of sustaining democratic institutions.”
Continuing, she insisted that they are “feckless” because they aren’t worried about losing their property, then insisted that “democracy” is what makes “capitalism” work. She said, “One by one by one, they have been silent. They have been, you know, yes, I use the word feckless. They’re it’s not like they’re going to lose their yacht or their house in the Hamptons. And here’s the thing: democracy sustains capitalism.”
Further insisting on that point and bizarrely calling Trump a “communist dictator,” she said, “Capitalism thrives in a democracy and right now we are dealing with, as I called him at my speech on the ellipse, a tyrant. We used to compare the strength of our democracy to communist dictators. That’s what we’re dealing with right now in Donald Trump.”
Then, returning to the “titans of industry” line, she angrily attacked American businessmen for not trying to depose the president, saying, “These titans of industry are not speaking up. Perhaps it is because his threats and the way he has used the weight of the federal government to take out vengeance on his critics is something that they fear.”
Still not done, she suggested that the industrialists will somehow get Trump a Nobel Prize, something about which the president has commented many times alongside his efforts to bring peace around the world, saying, “Perhaps it is because they want to please him and nominate him for a Nobel prize. Perhaps it’s because they want a merger approved, or they want to avoid an investigation.”

Concluding, she said that it is time for America’s businessmen to stand up to Trump, snapping, “But at some point, they’ve got to stand up for the sake of the people who rely on all of these institutions to have integrity and at some point be the guardrails against a tyrant who is using the federal government to execute his whim and fancy because of a fragile ego.”
