In a very funny incident on Fox News Channel showing the tremendous vanity and rudeness of many Swamp Creatures, Sen. John Thune (D-SD), the Establishment Republican who is a frequent critic of President Donald Trump, lost his temper on Fox News Channel when a slight delay caused by a software glitch interrupted his interview.
The moment came when Sen. Thune, who is the Senate Majority Leader despite his history of criticism of the president, joined Sandra Smith and John Roberts on FNC’s “America Reports” on Tuesday, September 23. Sen. Thune, during the interview, was going to react to President Donald Trump’s fiery address to the UN General Assembly in New York City that same morning, an address marred by UN technical issues.
Sen. Thune, for his part, was rambling about how the United States has an “indispensable” role at the United Nations, an organization that many in the MAGA coalition see as an expensive waste of time that does little good in the world rather than a very important body with which America must remain closely involved.
In any case, Sen. Thune had the first audio issue of the interview during his attempt to speak on the point, and then cut back in and, already seemingly trying to hold his temper in, told Smith that he was “back” on, audio-wise, and could continue with the interview.
Smith, responding, said, “We’ll work out these audio issues as I throw to this.” Smith then rolled a clip of President Trump discussing illegal immigration and the “failed experiment of open borders” during his speech at the United Nations, declaring that he would reverse the tide that we have seen grind on for so many years.
Adding to that, Smith joked that President Trump was, “As only he can, touting his own policies.” Sen. Thune seemed to hear that comment of hers mocking President Trump, as he chuckled in reaction to it. Smith then kept trying to talk, but as she did so, Sen. Thune started rolling his eyes and shaking his head in frustration.
Smith then awkwardly said, “Okay, we appear to still be having those audio issues.” As she did so, Sen. Thune went from annoyed to furious, and his boiling anger visibly pulsed through the screen as he sat in fury at the slight delay caused by the malfunctioning audio equipment.

Trying to defuse the situation and add something that could give them time to sort out the delay, Smith then cut to a clip of Trump commenting on the Israel-Palestine situation and the fight against Hamas, with Roberts chiming in to carry on the segment as Thune seemed unable to.
Roberts even joked that Sen. Thune was facing the same sorts of technical problems that President Trump had at the UN, where the president faced a stopped escalator and broken teleprompter, saying, “I think with Sen. Thune, I think the person running the studio may be the same person running the teleprompter and the escalator.
Thune tried one more time to jump into the conversation as Roberts and Smith discussed President Trump, but eventually gave up and veritably snorted with anger, snapping, “Alright, we’re done.” He then went off camera and the segment ended, with the senator obviously boiling as he did so.
