Democratic State Rep Julie von Haefen was forced to make a public apology in the North Carolina House for a June 14, 2025, social media post showing a guillotine with a beheaded Trump image, captioned “some cuts may be necessary.”
For context, the cowardly Democrat was forced to delete the post and then deactivate her X account, which condemned political violence. However, Republicans, both on social media and in the state legislature, blasted her comments.
In her deeply embarrassing apology, Rep. Julie von Haefen apologized on June 17, 2025. “This weekend, I shared a video montage on Facebook that included an image that was inappropriate. I realized that quickly and took the post down, and I want to apologize today,” she whined.
Still not done, she added, “I apologize to members of the House, to my constituents, and to any North Carolinian who is offended by what I posted. I’m sorry. Every one of us needs to take accountability for when we make mistakes. I am taking that accountability today, and I appreciate the opportunity to do so.”
For context, during her original post, which kicked off the massive disaster, Julie von Haefen posted, “No Kings Protest in Raleigh. Amazing turnout all across the Triangle today, including this event at the Capitol hosted by Wake Democrats and North Carolina Democrats.” She also posted footage of a sign that read, “In these difficult times, some cuts may be necessary.”
Reacting to the unacceptable comments, Libs of TikTok blasted the Democrat. “BREAKING UPDATE: Rep Julie von Haefen breaks her silence— issues statement after sharing a photo calling for the beheading of President Trump. Not buying any of this. She knew exactly what she was doing. She’s just sorry she got caught. Julie needs to face accountability and…” she whined.
Echoing these comments, another prominent conservative said, “Meet Julie von Haefen. She’s a violent radical Democrat from North Carolina. She called for President Trump to be beheaded. After multiple assassination attempts already. She apologized. Apology not accepted. Resign. Seek help.”

Similarly angered, many users called for law enforcement to step in. “North Carolin’s (Rep) Julie von Haefen needs a visit from the FBI; needs to be removed from office and banned for life from ever holding public office again,” one commentator stated.
Likewise, Rep. Brenden Jones (R-Columbus went after the Democrat.“Deleting your public profile isn’t accountability – it’s hiding. North Carolinians deserve better. It has been over a day since Julie von Haefen posted a picture depicting the execution of the president and not a single North Carolina House Democrat has condemned her actions,” he noted.
NC GOP Chairman Jason Simmons made it clear that she should step down. He announced, “The posts Rep. von Haefen shared do not show the judgment or temperament of someone to hold public office. For the good of her constituents to have effective representation, she should resign.”
Rounding out the condemnation, Rep. Tricia Cotham explained, “Rep. von Haefen’s post is DESPICABLE. Her decision to use an image where the President is beheaded & a swastika is present is disgusting. Her actions threaten our democracy and encourage political violence.”
