Republicans got great news as Max Johansen was forced to resign as Montana Democratic Party vice chair just a few scant days after his election. The move came shortly after criticizing former Sen. Jon Tester for not aggressively opposing 2024 opponent Tim Sheehy and suggesting Democrats embrace “socialist” aid.
For context, Tester, on his “Grounded” podcast, labeled Johansen a “clown,” “fox in the henhouse,” and ignorant of Montana. Additionally, the New chair, Shannon O’Brien, accepted the resignation, citing disruptive comments amid calls for significant change within the party.
In any case, the Montana Democratic Party issued a press release on the matter. “After acknowledging that certain comments he made following the convention were disruptive and inconsistent with the direction of the executive board,” the party stated.
Additionally, Chair Shannon O’Brien provided context for the events. He said, “This morning, I accepted the resignation of Vice Chair Max Johansen after he acknowledged that certain comments he made following the convention were disruptive and inconsistent with the direction of the Executive Board. We are focused on the future and on electing Democrats in 2026 and beyond.”
While he initially slammed Tester “for not being more proactive and forthright,” and for acting like an “old guard” whose opinions were out of date. He was quickly forced to apologize. “I offended a lot of people that I shouldn’t have offended.”
Defending himself, Tester launched into a hilarious rant, blasting the entitled former chair. “Things have changed. There are too many people in the party right now who don’t think I have any value. And I’m OK with that.”“The Democratic Party is in trouble. We have done it to ourselves. We have focused on blue districts and not other districts throughout the state. We are seen in polling as woke and weak, ” he noted.
Other Democrats, such as Sen. John Fterrerman (PA), have begun to turn against their own party as well. As we reported, Fettermena recently clashed with Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) over immigration and Trump’s foreign policy.

While walking on Capitol Hill, AOC was approached by a journalist, who asked her, “Senator Fetterman said that your party loses the moral high ground when you refuse to condemn the violence that we’re seeing in L.A. What do you say to Senator Fetterman?”
Answering, the entitled Democrat said, I mean, I think we should absolutely condemn the violence of ripping apart families, of ICE breaking the law, of them going into elementary schools and churches and raiding workplaces.”
AOC whined, “I think that if Senator Fetterman or anybody else is with law and order, we should be looking at one of the most lawbreaking agencies and administrations that we’ve seen in the United States.” Ripping into the president, she added, “We also have a convicted felon in the White House as well, so that’s my primary concern.”
A few days later, on June 23, 2025, Sen. Fetterman fired back at AOC in a Fox News interview after the congresswoman said that President Trump should be impeached following the strikes on Iran. The senator said, “Of course, no [he should not be impeached].” Referring to AOC, he added, “She knows it. I know it. We all know it… that’s not going anywhere. He’s been impeached twice, and now he’s still our president as well too, so it’s not going anywhere, and I don’t think [bringing up impeachment is] helpful.”
