In a bold move that earned him widespread support online, Florida Congressman Randy Fine (R) and Texas Rep. Keith Self (R) dealt a devastating blow to the left with the “No Sharia Act.” This proposed law would prohibit the application of Sharia “where such application would violate constitutional rights,” according to the men who sponsored it.
For context, Sharia law is a stringent version of Islamic religious law, which treats women, non-believers, and other groups very poorly. Despite the barbaric nature of this legal code, in Western nations such as Belgium, Judges have recognized the legitimacy of Sharia law in secular courts
In any case, when describing this law, the Florida Republican wasn’t mincing his words. “We are not going to become a Muslim nation. There are plenty out there,” Fine told The Daily Wire, hitting the nail on the head. “If you want to live under Sharia, return to where you came from, but we’re not interested in you coming here and conquering our country.”
Echoing these comments, Self warned about the growing presence of Islamic law in Texas. “We cannot have sets of laws,” he stated. “There is one in the United States. It’s called the U.S. Constitution and the state laws under states, of course, but we cannot have two different civilizations with different laws.”
Digging into the issue with this horrible legal system, which allows for child marriages, husbands beating wives, and honor killings, the Texas Republican stated that Sharia was “Not compatible with U.S. law, U.S. Constitution, and our civilization.”
Taking to social media, Fine explained his reasoning.”I just introduced the No Sharia Act, which would ensure that no U.S. court, public agency, or legal institution can ever enforce or legitimize Sharia law. You don’t get to come to this country and demand that our legal system accommodate your oppressive laws,” he stated. “Proud to work with @RepKeithSelf on this important legislation.”
As we reported, this issue has risen to the forefront of the national conversation after Republicans have organized a planned EPIC community in North Texas, which some critics have noted promotes “Sharia law.”

In a post to social media, Texas Governor Greg Abbott slammed the controverwsial community. “To be clear, Sharia law is not allowed in Texas. Nor are Sharia cities. Nor are ‘no go zones’ which this project seems to imply. Bottom line. The project…is not allowed in Texas,” he annouced.
Drawing greater attention to the issue, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) wrote a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi, which explained, “A master-planned ‘community of thousands of Muslims’ could violate the constitutional rights of Jewish and Christian Texans, by preventing them from living in this new community and discriminating against them within the community.”
Concluding his comments Cornyn explained the constitutional threats of this community. “Whether Christians, Jews, and other non-Muslim minorities would receive equal protection under the law in this new community. Religious discrimination, whether explicit or implicit, is unconstitutional under the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our nation’s values, and I am concerned this community potentially undermines this vital protection,” he explained.
