“Unacceptable”: Fox News Faces Blowback after Host Responds to Terror Attack with Calls for Gun Control [WATCH]

In a cynical move that earned widespread condemnation, former South Carolina congressman Trey Gowdy attempted to use the horrific mass shooting at a Catholic church in Minneapolis to force gun control on law-abiding Americans.

For context, politicians often attempt to use tragedies to convince Americans to give up their God-given rights. However, in this case, the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) shut down the gun-grabbing politician with an epic retort.

In any case, Gowdy appeared on Fox News to make his dishonest argument. He alleged, “Our system is reactive. Something bad happens, and we react to it. And what people are crying for now is, how can we prevent this? How can we stop it? And the only way to stop it is to identify the shooter ahead of time or keep the weapons out of their hands.”

Still not done with his divisive and dishonorable lies, the former congressman claimed, “And so we’re going to have to have a conversation of freedom versus protecting children. I mean, how many school shootings does it take before we’re going to have a conversation about keeping firearms out?”

Still not done with his comments, Gowdy repeated tired racist lies about mass killers, saying, “It’s always a young, white male, almost always. I mean, did anyone this morning think I wonder if that was a female? Did any of you all think that? I mean, there’s been one school shooting involving a female in Tennessee. But other than that, it is usually young white males.”

Firing back with an epic retort, NAGR blasted the baseless rant, saying. “Influential former GOP Congressman and FOX News host Trey Gowdy just went on national TV to shill for gun control in the wake of today’s Minneapolis terrorist attack.”

Building on this point, the legal advocacy group stated, “Unacceptable. The last time GOP leaders locked arms with Joe Biden and the Democrats to pass ‘red flag’ style gun control, it resulted in the largest attack on the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Americans in 30 years. And like all gun control, it didn’t work.”

Trey Gowdy’s comments sound early similar to those of far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), who used the tragedy to stump for Second Amendment restrictions. As we reported, she whined, ‘These people are all over the place because they want to deflect from the reality, which is that there was someone who came into that school through the window and assassinated two beautiful angels as they prayed and put 214 other children in the hospital who are still fighting for their lives.”

Turning to her genuine desire, she added, “It is important for us to make sure that we are offering a slew of solutions. One is to make sure that we are getting rid of assault weapons in our community. Two, that we are addressing mental health issues if there are some, and yes, as a community, it is important for us to say something when we see something, when somebody is exhibiting signs that there could be a problem ahead.”
