Recent reports have noted that Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of Jeffrey Epstein who was convicted in 2022 for sex trafficking, was still honored at the 2013 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) conference for ocean conservation, despite serious allegations of her involvement in Epstein’s sordid crimes since at latest 2009.
Contextualizing this report, Clinton aide Doug Band insists that he had instructed staffers to exclude Maxwell from Clinton-related events; yet, she attended the events anyway, suggesting an intervention from Bill or Hillary Clinton. Additionally, Maxwell attended Chelsea Clinton’s 2010 wedding. Despite the same evidence, Clinton’s team denies knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, claiming her CGI presence was staff-approved.
In any case, Doug Band issued explicit instructions to “Remove Ghislaine from all lists” for Clinton-related events after the serious allegations came to light. However, a representative for Bill Clinton deflected blame for her presence at the 2013 CGI conference, saying, “The decisions on those comps were made, as they have been historically, at the staff level, which included the office of President Clinton.”
Still not done shifting blame, the same source said, “The appearance is about someone working on ocean conservation attending a charitable conference 12 years ago, along with thousands of other people, and nothing more.”
Building on this tenuous claim, the spokesperson said the Clintons had no idea about Epstein’s highly publicized crimes. The statement alleged, “As we have consistently said, the Clintons know nothing about Jeffrey Epstein’s terrible crimes.”
However, while in an interview with the deputy attorney general, Ghislaine Maxwell told a different story. She said, “So they [Bill Clinton and Jeffrey Epstein] spent time on the plane together, and I don’t believe there was ever a massage on the plane. So that would’ve been the only time that I think that President Clinton could have even received a massage. And he didn’t, because I was there.”
Rumors have long swirled about the connections between the Clinton family and the controversial billionaire. As we reported, the House Oversight Committee released Ghislaine Maxwell’s 238-page “birthday book” for Jeffrey Epstein’s 2003 50th birthday, featuring notes from prominent figures like Bill Clinton, who praised Epstein’s

For instance, Ghislaine Maxwell’s letter to Epstein told him the purpose of the document was to
“gather stories and old photographs to jog your memory about places, people, and different events.” Additionally, she hoped he would “derive as much pleasure from looking through it” as she did from making it for him.
In an even more suspicious letter, Bill Clinton wrote a message to Epstein. The Democrats’ note to the disgraced financier praised Epstein’s “childlike curiosity” and complimented his “drive to make a difference” as well as the “[illegible] of friends.”
Similarly, Alan Dershowitz, who represented Epstein in court, said, “Dear Jeffrey, as a birthday gift to you, I managed to obtain an early version of the Vanity Unfair article. I talked them into changing the focus from you to Bill Clinton.”
Reacting to the recently released document, Rep. James Comer (R-KT) issued a statement that read, “Oversight Committee Republicans are focused on running a thorough investigation to bring transparency and accountability for survivors of Epstein’s heinous crimes and the American people.”
