In a massive meltdown, which created an instant online backlash, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) accused House Republicans of acting like “fascists,” prompting significant backlash. Similarly, when a clip of this massive meltdown was posted to social media, conservative commentators blasted the entitled Democrat for her inflammatory rhetoric.
For context, Tlaib was freaking in the face of a flurry of major Trump wins. She specifically mentioned the Trump administration’s decision to mobilize hundreds of National Guard soldiers to secure Washington, D.C.
In any case, started off with her completely unorganized and incoherent comments by whining “We can’t be passive right now, so nobody over there should take anything we say seriously, you know, like so personally, as if we’re attacking them.”
Cynically presenting her own actions, the Democrat complained, “No, we’re attacking a process, not attacking people here. And I think it’s really important we need to stand up against this fascist takeover. That’s not a bad word. It’s a fact.”
Continuing her dishonest framing, Tlaib claimed, “And here in DC and across the country, it is so incredibly important, Mr. Chair, that this committee does not allow rhetoric that defames or paints Washington Z in a way that you all haven’t really truly seen. You’re just reading it. No, you’re just reading it or something off of some…”
At this point, the chairman interjected, but Tlaib continued saying, “I don’t yield. I don’t even have time. I can tell you….Mr. Chairman, but you all live here, and you’re not telling people the beautiful parts that you do see in our nation’s capital. And no, no, no, it’s just wrong.”
At this point, another representative, likely Byron Donalds (R-FL), said, “She’s going to refer to me and some of my colleagues as if we were from the Third Reich. It’s insane. …Do I look like a member of the Third Reich? To you, Miss Talib, is that what I look like to you?”

Doubling down on her wild rhetoric, Tlaib continued undeterred, whining, “I think it’s radical, and I think it’s radical, and I think it’s insane, and I don’t respect anything that you say, but to say something like that to myself and all of my colleagues is way out of line, ”
Reacting to this wild rant, conservatives blasted the Michigan Democrat. One prominent conservative quipped, “JUST IN: Rep. Rashida Tlaib starts screaming at the top of her lungs after being confronted for saying it’s a ‘fact’ that the United States is experiencing a ‘fascist takeover’… Completely unhinged.”
Annoyed by this bizarre meltdown, one comment noted, “She has no idea what fascism is. She’s just screaming the word because it = someone i dont like, I want to silence, and who I condone violence against (to paraphrase George Orwell).”
Watch the clip here:
Additionally, another noted, “Remember when “hey fascist” was etched into a bullet shell casing that Tyler Robinson had in his weapon and elected Democrats swore they don’t say that? I do.” Agreeing, another said, “Rashida Tlaib out here yelling “fascist takeover” like it’s open mic night.
Funny how the people screaming the loudest about fascism are the ones trying to police speech, shut down dissent, and weaponize government. Projection much?”
