Shouting Match Erupts as Democrats Refuse to Be Silent for “Moment of Silence” for Charlie Kirk

A moment of silence or assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk on the floor of the house turned chaotic after Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) demanded a spoken prayer instead of a silent one, sparking shouts from Democrats. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) accused Democrats, shouting, “You all caused this.”

For context, Speaker Mike Johnson quickly restored order and promised to organize a prayer at a later time. Reacting to the terrible assassination at the Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University, Trump mourned Krik, and DNC Chairman Ken Martin condemned the assassination as unacceptable political violence.

In any case, the chaotic event began with House Speaker Mike Johnson asking the assembled representatives to “Please rise for a moment of prayer for Charlie Kirk and his family.” Firing back with a snarky response, Rep. Lauren Boebert quipped that “Silent prayers get silent results.”

Reacting to boos from the Democrats, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna interjected, “You all caused this.”
Responding, in a vain attempt to quiet dissent, House Speaker Mike Johnson stated, “We will join for prayer right after this, OK?”

Additionally, after Kirk was killed, sympathies from across the world began to pour in. President Trump announced, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one in the United States of America understood or had the Heart of a youth better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Even figures from the political left slammed the senseless violence. DNC Chairman Ken Martin stated, “Let me be clear: even if you disagree with someone’s beliefs, even if you stand against every single thing they stand for, the path of disagreement must never lead to what happened today at Utah Valley University. Political violence — in all of its forms — is unacceptable in America.”

Building on this comment, he noted, “Yet, as I said when my dear friends Melissa and Mark Hortman were murdered earlier this summer, such violence has become commonplace. Every single political leader, Democrat and Republican alike, must loudly condemn this violence. We must work harder to bring this country together, not divide it.”

Other prominent political figures, including Vice President JD Vance, were deeply saddened by the loss. Mourning his friend, Vance posted, “I was in a meeting in the West Wing when those group chats started lighting up with people telling Charlie they were praying for him. And that’s how I learned the news that my friend had been shot. I prayed a lot over the next hour, as first good news and then bad trickled in.”

Concluding his remarks, the VP noted, “God didn’t answer those prayers, and that’s OK. He had other plans. And now that Charlie is in heaven, I’ll ask him to talk to big man directly on behalf of his family, his friends, and the country he loved so dearly. You ran a good race, my friend. We’ve got it from here.”
