In a shocking example of treachery, Oregon State Rep. Cyrus Javadi, a former Republican, switched to the Democratic Party after voting with Democrats on key issues, including a massive tax hike. In response to his betrayal, Javadi is facing a recall campaign and significant backlash from voters in his district.
For context, the state representative cited his former party’s opposition to his district’s priorities, such as Medicaid and funding for rural hospitals, as reasons for the switch. Javadi believes that the Democratic Party is better aligned with the needs of his coastal district. The move strengthens the Democratic House majority, but Javadi’s past support for limiting abortion access may complicate his new allegiances going forward.
In any case, speaking to his betrayal of the GOP, State Rep. Cyrus Javadi alleged, “Being an elected leader has never been about party loyalty to me. It’s been about how I can best fight for our community and our state.”
Still not done, he whined, “I think my job’s worth the handful of jobs [the bill is] going to save in Astoria if it comes to that. Or the hundreds more it’s going to save across the state. Every priority for Oregon’s North Coast, nearly every single one, ran into opposition from my own party.”
Listing off the alleged benefits of joining the Democrats, the former Republican wrote, “Protecting Medicaid benefits for the nearly 60% of children in Tillamook and Clatsop counties? Opposed. Keeping rural hospitals afloat? Opposed. Preserving students’ access to books that reflect who they are? Opposed. Protecting the First Amendment rights of people different from ourselves? Opposed,” adding, “Time after time this past session, it was Democrats who stepped up to support the priorities of the coast, even though I wore the other team’s jersey.”
Building on this point, a statement from the Republican associated Evergreen PAC noted, “That mission is not affected by today’s announcement. Instead, it strengthens our work and our caucus to advance those ideals by giving the north coast the opportunity to support a new leader who will put the needs of their communities above themselves.”
As we reported, other RINOs have earned the scorn of conservative Americans, but blocking the nomination of Trump’s cabinet members, such as interim U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba. Reacting to the frustrating situation, she recently went nuclear on two of the least popular RINOs.

In any case, Habba said, “The president was rightfully voted in by a majority of Americans, and he is entitled to pick his U.S. attorneys, his Department of Justice officials, his judges, so that we can continue the agenda that the American public voted for, which is to get rid of crime.”
Building on this point, the former Trump attorney said, “In the state of New Jersey in June alone, we arrested over 300 criminals, illegals, rapists. What is so bad about that work? The truth is, it has nothing to do with the work that we’re doing. It has nothing to do with the crime that we’re stopping. It has to do with trying to prevent President Trump from continuing his agenda, and it has to stop.”
Concluding her comments with an epic rebuke, she said, “So I would say to Senator Tillis and Senator Grassley, you are becoming part of the issue. You are becoming part of the antithesis of what we fought for four years, the same reason Tish James just got overturned in the appellate division, because it was a hoax, and it was misused and abusive power, and we cannot allow and promote that kind of behavior. It is not just about me, it is about people across the country, US attorneys across the country that just want to do right by Americans that voted for President Trump.”
