In a clip that went viral on social media, Far-left protesters opposing Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) staged dramatic protests inside the Capitol, leading to arrests by Capitol Police. Some demonstrators, including some in wheelchairs, lay on the floor with banners, disrupting proceedings.
For context, some conservative influencers made the argument that these protests were heavily funded by a ‘network of Soros and government-funded NGOs,’ lending credibility to skeptics of these events. In any case, several woke NGO leaders opposed the arrests and attempted to turn the protests to their own cynical advantage.
In any case, a prominent conservative social media account noted the connection between the shadowy billionaire and the protests, saying, “INSURRECTION: Paid protesters from Democrat NGOs occupied the US Capitol today in opposition to President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. Flush with cash from a network of Soros and government-funded NGOs, the protesters were promised free legal services and bail money in the event they were arrested, as many were.”
As we reported, a Capitol Police spokesperson stated, “We always restrain people’s hands when they are under arrest for everyone’s safety. We don’t deviate from that best practice because of someone’s age, gender, disability, or any other characteristics.”
Additionally, the official noted, “The way to avoid the flex cuffs is to listen to our officers’ multiple warnings to not break the law and to lawfully demonstrate in the numerous areas of Capitol Grounds where First Amendment activity is permitted.”
Concluding the official statement, the spokesperson declared, “It is against the law to protest inside the Congressional Buildings…It should be noted that there are other places on Capitol Grounds where people can lawfully demonstrate without issue.”
However, other woke activists, such as Braxton Brewington of the Debt Collective, took a different perspective. He claimed, “Debt Collective members from Texas, Colorado, Alaska, Florida, and so many parts of this country put their bodies on the line to ensure members of Congress know they will die without crucial social safety net programs like Medicaid and SNAP.”

Repeating tired DNC lies. Analilia Mejia and DaMareo Cooper, who work for Popular Democracy in Action, alleged, “Every elected official and every voter should be disturbed by the choice to rip away lifesaving programs and policies from working families to fund another American war in the Middle East. We are urging our Senators to put working families first, and stop cuts to essential programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security.”
Similarly, John Schwarz of The People’s Union USA made wild predictions about the protests, saying, “They crossed the line today. They zip-tied and arrested senior citizens in wheelchairs. This is not law enforcement. This is oppression. And every officer who took part in this should hang their head in shame. Every politician who remains silent is just as guilty…And if you think this is acceptable, if you can watch disabled senior citizens get zip-tied for defending Medicaid and call that ‘order’ then you are the problem.”
