After a protracted legal battle, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has successfully challenged a federal judge’s order to dismantle Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz” migrant detention facility, citing environmental violations. Taking to social media, DeSantis made a triumphant post, where he reaffirmed his state’s commitment to Trump’s mass deportation agenda.
For context, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams, an Obama appointee, mandated the removal of fencing, lighting, and generators within 60 days of the controversial facility. However, Florida appealed to he 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, arguing the injunction undermines Florida’s immigration enforcement and public safety.
In any case, the courageous Florida Republican took to social media to announce the victory. He stated, “The Mission Continues on immigration enforcement. The media was giddy that somehow alligator Alcatraz was, ‘shutting down,’ and we told them that that wasn’t true.”
Continuing his victory lap, DeSantis stated, “There have been illegal aliens continuing to be there and being removed and returned to their home country. But they ran with the narrative because some leftist judge ruled implausibly that somehow, Florida wasn’t allowed to use our own property to help the federal government in this important mission because they didn’t do an environmental impact statement.”
Firing back at the woke judge, he noted, “Well, we said we would fight that. We said the mission would continue. And I’m pleased to say that the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals has just stayed that ruling and stayed the case,” adding, “So alligator Alcatraz is, in fact, like we’ve always said, open for business. The Mission Continues, and we’re going to continue leading the way when it comes to immigration enforcement.”
In the caption under the video, which was posted to X, formerly Twitter, the Florida Governor noted, “The mission continues at Alligator Alcatraz. The media was wrong. The leftist judge has been overturned. Florida will keep leading the way.”
As we reported, Gov. Ron DeSantis promised to fight the initial decision from the very start. He stated, “This [ruling] is not going to deter us. We’re going to continue working on the deportations, advancing that mission.”

Explaining their case to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Florida lawyers wrote, “A stay is necessary to avoid irreparable harm to the state. For one, the injunction irreparably harms the state because it stops Florida’s executive branch from taking action that Florida law empowers it to take. For another, the injunction risks harm to the public, law enforcement, and detainees.”

Speaking earlier about the purpose of Alligator Alcatraz, DeSantis explained the vital importance of this facility. He noted, “Sure, this is not the Ritz Carlton, okay, we’re not doing this just to let people have food and shelter, although they do get that. But that’s not in all the minimum standards are upheld. But the reality is it’s there to be a quick processing center so that they can, we have a runway right there, they can just be flown back to their home country. So that is the purpose of why we’re doing it.”
