In a dramatic clip that went viral on social media, dozens of protesters can be seen as they are led away in handcuffs by the Capitol Police. According to the Capital Police, approximately 60 protesters were apprehended in Washington, DC, after breaching a police bike rack barrier near the US Capitol.
For context, the protest, organized by About Face: Veterans Against the War and Veterans for Peace, was a response to President Trump’s deployment of the National Guard and Marines in Los Angeles, as well as a $45 million military parade intended to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the US Army.
Reacting to the unruly protest, the Capitol Police charged the group with unlawful demonstration and crossing a police line, with some particularly motivated activists facing additional charges. The dramatic protest occurred amid heightened security preparations for the Army’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Posting a clip of the protestors being arrested, conservative influencer Benny Johnson quipped, “All of the deranged leftists that broke through the Capitol barricades have been arrested,” reflecting the general reaction online.
In any case, the Capital Police summarized the event in a statement which read, “A few people pushed the bike rack down and illegally crossed the police line while running towards the Rotunda Steps. All will be charged with unlawful demonstration and crossing a police line. Additional charges for some will include assault on a police officer and resisting arrest.”
Unfortunately, this is far from the only time the Capital Police have been forced to arrest disruptive left-wing protestors during Trump’s second term. As we reported, Far-left protesters, opposing President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) signed on July 4, 2025, staged theatrical protests inside the U.S. Capitol, resulting in dozens of arrests.
Reacting to the theatrical protest, a Capitol Police spokesperson explained, “We always restrain people’s hands when they are under arrest for everyone’s safety. We don’t deviate from that best practice because of someone’s age, gender, disability, or any other characteristics.”

Building on this point, the spokesperson added, “The way to avoid the flex cuffs is to listen to our officers’ multiple warnings to not break the law and to lawfully demonstrate in the numerous areas of Capitol Grounds where First Amendment activity is permitted,” adding, “It is against the law to protest inside the Congressional Buildings…It should be noted that there are other places on Capitol Grounds where people can lawfully demonstrate without issue.”
Melting down in typical woke fashion, John Schwarz, who works for the progressive NGO The People’s Union USA, criticized the officers who arrested the disruptive protestors. He whined, “They crossed the line today. They zip-tied and arrested senior citizens in wheelchairs. This is not law enforcement. This is oppression. And every officer who took part in this should hang their head in shame. Every politician who remains silent is just as guilty…And if you think this is acceptable, if you can watch disabled senior citizens get zip-tied for defending Medicaid and call that ‘order’ then you are the problem.”

Other far-left activists, such as Braxton Brewington of Debt Collective, repeated baseless lies about Trump’s OBBB. The protestor claimed, “Debt Collective members from Texas, Colorado, Alaska, Florida, and so many parts of this country put their bodies on the line to ensure members of Congress know they will die without crucial social safety net programs like Medicaid and SNAP.”
