“Clear Violation of the Law”: RINO Senator Goes Ballistic After Trump Nixes Seemingly Wasteful Spending

In the latest example of RINOs pretending it’s still the 1980s and 90s, with all fair in politics and no need to take dramatic action, much-detested RINO Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) freaked out after President Trump nixed nearly $5 billion in wasteful foreign aid spending, with the senator accusing the president of breaking the law in trying to get the budget back on track.

As background, the White House announces plans on the night of Thursday, August 28, to yank back massive amounts of foreign aid funding. The legal mechanism used is so-called pocket rescission, in which the president has decided not to spend the money before the funding expires with the end of the 2024 fiscal year on September 30. Thus the money will go unspent, theoretically. The legal concept is mostly untested.

The funding he is attempting to yank is a slew of ridiculous foreign aid funding, such as $132 million for the “Democracy Fund” at the United States State Department, and $445 million for various peacekeeping missions the average American taxpayer is unlikely to know we are involved with and would be against if he or she did.

RINO Sen. Collins, instead of going along with the idea that Trump needs political wins to keep the GOP in charge, went berserk and accused him of breaking the law by trying to not waste $5 billion, declaring in a huffy statement on Friday, August 29, that President Trump had engaged in a “clear violation of the law.”

In her entertainingly rage-filled statement, the RINO Senator declared, “Congress has received from the Administration a $4.9 billion package of proposed rescissions of funding that had been previously appropriated for a wide range of foreign aid programs. Given that this package was sent to Congress very close to the end of the fiscal year when the funds are scheduled to expire, this is an apparent attempt to rescind appropriated funds without congressional approval.:

Continuing, she insisted, as if Congress has not renounced its duties and powers on countless occasions, such as with foreign wars, insisted that this specific instance is unconscionable and President Trump needs to spend the money on various foreign aid programs that MAGA voters don’t care a lick about.

She snapped, “GAO has concluded that this type of rescission is unlawful and not permitted by the Impoundment Control Act. Article I of the Constitution makes clear that Congress has the responsibility for the power of the purse. Any effort to rescind appropriated funds without congressional approval is a clear violation of the law.”

She then insisted that this is illegal, declaring, “Instead of this attempt to undermine the law, the appropriate way is to identify ways to reduce excessive spending through the bipartisan, annual appropriations process. Congress approves rescissions regularly as part of this process. In fact, the year-long funding bill that we are currently operating under includes 70 rescissions.”

Concluding, the much-disliked RINO insisted, “This month, the Appropriations Committee intends to markup the Fiscal Year 2026 State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs bill. The annual funding bill is the most appropriate way to ensure that any rescissions reflect the views of Congress.”

President Trump, for his part, has hammered Sen. Collins before. When she announced her refusal to vote for the Big, Beautiful Bill, for example, he said, “Republicans, when in doubt, vote the exact opposite of Senator Susan Collins. Generally speaking, you can’t go wrong. Thank you for your attention to this matter and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
