In the latest parade of exasperating corruption and intransigence to come from the left, Democrat Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, suspected of mortgage fraud corruption, has sued President Donald Trump in an attempt to block him from firing her over his loss of confidence in her due to the corruption allegations.
As background, accusing her of fraud and announcing her firing in a letter, the president said, “As set forth in the Criminal Referral dated August 15, 2025, from Mr. William J. Pulte, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, to Ms. Pamela Bondi, Attorney General of the United States…there is sufficient reason to believe you may have made false statements on one or more mortgage agreements.”
Continuing, he explained the specific fraud she is accused of, saying, “For example, as detailed in the Criminal Referral, you signed one document attesting that a property in Michigan would be your primary residence for the next year. Two weeks later, you signed another document for a property in Georgia stating that it would be your primary residence for the next year.”
The president then noted that she was obviously untrustworthy, saying, “It is inconceivable that you were not aware of your first commitment when making the second. It is impossible that you intended to honor both.” He concluded, “In light of your deceitful and potentially criminal conduct in a financial matter, they cannot, and I do not have such confidence in your integrity.”
Cook immediately freaked out and refused to just leave quietly. Instead, she insisted that she had done nothing wrong, and fired off a suit trying to block him from firing her. In the suit, her lawyers, Abbe Lowell and Norm Eisen, argued that Trump is trying to just get rid of a political opponent rather than advance justice.
They said, “It is clear from the circumstances surrounding Governor Cook’s purported removal from the Federal Reserve Board that the mortgage allegations against her are pretextual, in order to effectuate her prompt removal and vacate a seat for President Trump to fill and forward his agenda to undermine the independence of the Federal Reserve.”
Continuing, they insisted that the clear example of fraud is merely“an unsubstantiated allegation” and “President Trump’s conception of ‘cause’ has no limiting principle. It would allow him to remove any Federal Reserve Board member with whom he disagrees about policy based on chalked up allegations.”

The lawsuit that Cook’s lawyers fired off went on to claim that the “for cause” reason for her firing was flawed, and thus illegitimate, and so she is protected because the Federal Reserve is an independent agency and the president’s ability to fire members of its leadership team are limited.
Further, Cook’s lawyers alleged that she had due process rights that involved her needing to receive advance notice that she could be fired and a chance to contest the allegations that she is facing, particularly as she has a supposed property interest in her over $225,000 annual salary for the job, and so it she has constitutional protections.
