Speaking about the recent FBI raid on the home and office of John Bolton during an appearance on Fox News Channel, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) explained that much more accountability is coming as federal law enforcement cracks down upon and punishes the sort of Deep State malfeasance seen during the first Trump Administration.
For reference, Rep. Jordan’s comments on the matter came when he spoke to Hannity on Friday, August 22, the same day as the FBI raid on former National Security Advisor Bolton’s home and offices that reportedly stemmed from suspicions regarding his handling of classified documents, the same reason given by the FBI for the raid on Mar-a-Lago.
Rep. Jordan, commenting on the matter, explained that the FBI raid and other moves like it are all part of accountability measures directed at various agents of the Deep State, including not just Bolton, but also former FBI Director James Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA), former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan, amongst lesser known functionionaries, over their efforts to undermine the Trump Administration.
Beginning by contrasting the raid on Bolton’s home with the Biden-era raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, Rep. Jordan noted that this was a serious raid rather than a press event, saying, “The press wasn’t there. There wasn’t all this, you know, the big scene that it was three years ago this month when they raided President Trump’s home.
Continuing, he explained what all has been learned thanks to the hard work of the various Trump officials, saying, “I think the big takeaway though is think about what we’ve learned in the last four weeks because of the good work of the Attorney General, of Director Patel, of ODNI Director Tulsi Gabbard, think about what we’ve learned. We learned that Jim Comey and his chief of staff were leaking classified information. We learned that a whistleblower has come forward and said Adam Schiff was leaking classified information.”
Moving towards a more general view of what was learned rather than examples of specific individuals’ misdeeds, Rep. Jordan then added, “We learned from Tulsi Gabbard that there’s another whistleblower who said that they changed the intelligence community assessment. They changed the report to say something different back before President Trump even took office, between Election Day 2016 and Inauguration Day.”
He then connected that back to the various Deep State officials involved in the scandal and accountability efforts, explaining, “And now, we learn that and that change . . . was done by Brennan and Clapper. At their urging, the report was changed back then. And now we learn today that John Bolton mishandled classified information. So, you got Comey, Schiff, Clapper, Brennan, Bolton, all out to undermine the president. That’s the story here.”

And, emphasizing what it is those agents of the Deep State were doing, Rep. Jordan noted that they were trying to subvert and sabotage the Trump Administration, explaining, “You mentioned the deep state a few minutes ago. That’s the deep state in action trying to sabotage the guy we the people put into the Oval Office. That’s what they tried to do.”
Concluding, he explained that this is accountability of the sort the American people want and that those who are guilty will be punished. He said, “And now you got good people running these federal agencies who are looking at the facts and you — and just going on the facts and bringing that forward. This is not political retribution. This is accountability. And it’s exactly what the American people voted on when they put President Trump in the White House on November 5.”
