WATCH: Trump Says He’ll Be Sending Troops, Federal Agents to Crack Down on Chicago’s Crime Catastrophe

Speaking in an interview from the White House and wearing a very entertaining new “Trump Was Right about Everything!” red hat as he did so, President Donald Trump explained that he is deciding which horribly run, terribly crime-ridden city should be cracked down upon by federal agents next, and thinks it will probably be Chicago.

As background, while Chicago was long regarded as a jewel of the American Midwest, particularly in its Gilded Age heyday, it has long been regarded as essentially a no-go zone by many conservatives because of the high levels of street crime and gang activity that happen within it, problems the city government has shown itself unable to effectively handle.

Paired with that is the fact that Washington, D.C., has seen its crime levels plummet as the Trump Administration sends out federalized police officers, federal agents, and National Guard troopers to crack down on street crime by intimidating and arresting the criminals for so long. So far, the campaign has been a smashing success.

So, President Trump has indicated that he wants to expand the effort to other cities so that they too can benefit from the salutary effects of federal agents cracking down on crime for the benefit of all, particularly the generally poorer residents who have to live around the immense crime and squalor allowed by soft on crime policing.

Commenting on the matter from the White House on the morning of Friday, August 22, the president told reporters that Americans across the country are begging him to do to their cities what he did to DC. He said, “To me, D.C. is very exciting and a lot of people say, ‘Whoa, where’s he going from there?’ Well, I have calls from politicians begging me to go to Chicago, begging me to go to New York, begging me to go to Los Angeles.”

Continuing, he directed his ire and threats of crackdown to Chicago, saying that the city management is a disaster, but the federal government could step in to fix it for all, and so he thinks it will be the next target. He said, “Chicago is a mess. You have an incompetent mayor, grossly incompetent, and we’ll straighten that one out probably next.”

Adding to that, he claimed that Chicago’s residents are calling for him to take that momentous step and solve their city’s massive crime problem. He claimed, “That’ll be our next one after this, and it won’t even be tough. And the people in Chicago … are screaming for us to come … so I think Chicago will be our next and then we’ll help with New York.”

Further, in his typically entertaining fashion during those comments, the president said that people in Chicago are “wearing red hats just like this one,” referring to his aforementioned red hat, and then claimed, “African American ladies, beautiful ladies, are saying, ‘Please, President Trump, come to Chicago, please.'”

    Watch him here:

As could be expected, the Chicago leadership freaked out about his comments. Mayor Brandon Johnson said, “He does not have the legal authority to do it.” He added, “As mayor of the city of Chicago and as someone who understands the premise of our Constitution, we are justified in our resistance to his authoritarianism.”
