In what might have been one of her most entertaining and absurd television meltdowns yet, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) appeared on CNN and went on a berserk attack against the state’s GOP lawmakers for pushing through a redistricting map that will help their party attain five more seats in the United States House of Representatives by replacing lean-Democrat districts with lean-Republican ones.
As background, the kerfuffle started when the Department of Justice sent a letter to Texas in which it argued that some of the state’s congressional districts, all of which were Democratic leaning ones, showed evidence of race-based gerrymandering, and thus needed to be gotten rid of. Texas, in complying with the DOJ’s request, created a map that would in its changes, turn five House seats from Democratic-leaning districts into GOP-leaning districts.
One of those districts that is changed by the map is the one currently controlled by Rep. Jasmine Crockett. The new map changes the boundaries slightly so that her residence is outside of it, something that many MAGA Republicans find very funny, as it could mean that she’ll lose her seat in the US Congress.
Now that the Texas House was able to vote on and pass the map, which was reintroduced after the House managed to attain a quorum and thus needs to again be passed by the Texas Senate and signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott, Crockett has been freaking out all the more intensely about the redistricting matter.
Such is what she showed when she appeared on CNN’s “The Source” on Tuesday, August 19, the day before the Texas House managed to finally pass the redistricting map. Speaking to CNN’s Kaitlin Collins, she said, “The Republicans, they are cheaters all day, every day. But we have never tried to match their energy until now. And I applaud it.”
Continuing, the far-left lawmaker insisted that blue states like California will react the redistricting in a tit for tat fashion with redistricting of their own, snapping, “This is a dangerous road to travel down, and I do applaud those in California that say, if you want to play with us, we will play back.” Many Republicans claim that threat is empty, as far-left states like Illinois and Massachusetts are already known for gerrymandered districts that keep the GOP out of power.
In any case, Crockett continued hurling threats at the GOP, declaring that Republicans should just back down so that Democrats back down too, saying, “You can stop this right now if you just say, ‘Hey, we will stop in Texas,’ because California doesn’t go into play unless Texas does.”

Turning from Texas to another GOP-controlled state, Crockett attacked North Carolina. She said, “If you will recall, when we look at North Carolina, as soon as they ended up with a Republican majority in that Supreme Court, what did they do? They decided to take their map from seven, which is pretty much what the state of North Carolina looks like, and instead they added an additional three seats for the Republicans.”
She angrily added, commenting on the Republican advantage in the state with the new seats added to the voting map and changing things up a bit, “So now it‘s 10-4. Well, when you look at the voting, nothing looks like 10-4. And they only did that once the Republicans took control.”
