WATCH: Liberal FNC Host Flips and Praises President Trump in Surprising Moment

Speaking during a broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “The Five,” former Democratic Rep. Harold Ford Jr. made a surprising series of comments, chiming in to praise President Donald Trump for his peace push and saying that the president’s efforts to broker a peace in the Russia-Ukraine war is extremely laudable and something for which the president should be commended.

As background, former Rep. Ford represented Tennesseeans in Congress from 1997 until 2007, and wrote a book after dropping out of Congress. Former Rep. Ford has been a political contributor at Fox News Channel since April of 2021, when he joined the network, and is generally a left-leaning but reasonable voice.

In any case, former Rep. Ford told shocked “The Five” viewers and co-hosts that he thinks the president deserves “tremendous credit” for what he has done to encourage a peaceful resolution to the Russo-Ukraine War, and even thinks that the current president could be deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize.

Saying as much during his appearance on “The Five,” the former congressman said that he would be “the first” to give the president credit for his efforts at peace, saying, “I give President Trump tremendous credit for where we are. And if he is able, again, to engineer this deal, we’ve been saying for weeks on this show, I would be the first.”

Continuing, he explained that if a peace deal is struck, as currently appears possible, then he hopes to get invited to the White House so that he can see President Trump get the Nobel Peace Prize that he so much deserves, saying, “I would hope you would invite me down to the White House when the president is awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, because he would absolutely deserve it.”

Adding to that to make sure that listeners heard him right and to make clear that he made no slip of the tongue, Rep. Ford stated in precise terms that he thinks the president would deserve the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the conflict. He said, “If Trump is able to engineer this deal, he would absolutely deserve the Nobel Peace Prize.”

President Trump has said in the past, even before the Russia-Ukraine negotiations he has helped bring about, that he thinks he deserves a peace prize for his hard work at bringing about peace. For example, he said, in a post on Truth Social after he helped bring peace to the Congo, “This is a Great Day for Africa and, quite frankly, a Great Day for the World! I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for this, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between India and Pakistan, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for stopping the War between Serbia and Kosovo, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for keeping Peace between Egypt and Ethiopia (A massive Ethiopian built dam, stupidly financed by the United States of America, substantially reduces the water flowing into The Nile River), and I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize for doing the Abraham Accords in the Middle East which, if all goes well.”

He added, at the end of that post, commenting on the Russo-Ukrainian War situation and other conflicts, “No, I won’t get a Nobel Peace Prize no matter what I do, including Russia/Ukraine, and Israel/Iran, whatever those outcomes may be, but the people know, and that’s all that matters to me!”
