“As Real As It Gets”: Stephen Miller Threatens Sanctuary Jurisdiction Officials with Criminal Charges [WATCH]

Speaking during an interview on Fox News Channel with host Sean Hannity, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller explained that sanctuary jurisdiction government officials are facing criminal charges if they decide not to comply with demands sent to them by Attorney General Pam Bondi.

As background, AG Bondi’s office has sent threatening letters to the various jurisdictions that it has determined are sanctuary jurisdictions because of their efforts to obstruct federal immigration enforcement or their refusal to work with federal immigration authorities, warning that they face potential DOJ suits, criminal charges, and a shutoff of federal funding if they do not comply.

Miller, appearing on Hannity’s program to discuss the matter, explained that the Democratic Party is extremely far to the left and it currently appears to represent the interests of criminal elements rather than ordinary Americans. Beginning, he said, “The Democrat Party is an extremist organization, Sean. It’s not a political party in any normal sense of the word.”

Continuing, Miller argued that what Americans are currently seeing out of the Democratic Party’s most prominent elements is a refusal to work with the federal government to detain and deport some of the worst criminals in America, such as terrorists and murderers.

Commenting on that aspect of the horrid situation, the deputy chief of staff said, “A political party represents Americans. It represents law abiding citizens. All you see all day long are crazy Democrats screeching on TV on behalf of foreign terrorists, hardened criminals and violent illegal aliens, a political party exclusively dedicated to protecting terrorists, criminals, gang bangers and murderers. That’s what they become.”

Adding to that, Mr. Miller noted that the sanctuary jurisdiction officials had clear deadlines to work with the DOJ and border authorities to hand over criminals who are in America illegally, and they violated that deadline. He said, “The sanctuary city mayors…DOJ has been very clear, [the sanctuary city mayors] had a deadline, and they violated it.”

Further, Mr. Miller noted exactly what types of criminals it is who the sanctuary city jurisdictions are protecting from deportation, noting, “They had a deadline to comply with federal law and hand over the criminal illegal aliens in their custody, the child rapist, the child predators, the drug traffickers, the human traffickers.”

Concluding, he noted that those officials face not just a loss of funding and so on for their cities, but also criminal charges directed at them personally. He said, “The sanctuary cities like Boston refused to turn over these menacing threats to public safety, and so now they face not only revocation of funds, not only the loss of taxpayer support, but also potential criminal charges for harboring and smuggling. This is as real as it gets.”

    Watch him here:

Democrats have remained defiant. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, for instance, fired off a letter to AG Bondi in which he snapped, “That the federal government would insist that Minnesota should divert state resources to do the federal government’s job or help effectuate some kind of misguided political agenda is fundamentally inconsistent with our founding principles as a nation.”
