Back in February of 2025, famous podcast host Joe Rogan had on Brett Weinstein, the famous author and professor, and in the beginning of the episode they commented on both the scandalous situation surrounding USAID, which has since been demolished by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and commented on George Soros’ involvement in the dire state of America.
It began when Rogan commented on the state of things regarding USAID and what DOGE was then finding. Doing so, he said, referring to Elon’s DOGE and its war on USAID, “They brought in some young wizards to go in there and go over the books and they are just finding crazy. It’s great. And it’s so interesting.”
He added that the left seems to be living in a totally different world regarding USAID, telling Weinstein, “I was listening to a left-wing podcast today. I like to mix it up, you know, I listen to all kinds of different stuff and. And it was like I was listening to a different world. Like they weren’t even talking about all of this corruption and all this obvious buying of influence. Instead, they were talking about aid overseas and how people are gonna starve…”
Chiming in, Weinstein noted that the left’s reaction to allegations of corruption were crazy, as Americans should care if they are getting ripped off by a corrupt government. He said, “Like it’s mind boggling. And there’s also, I have to say, I’m just, I’m upset at the general pattern of a failure to recognize how right those of us who hypothesized that there was a racket that had overtaken our entire governance structure…we turn out to be absolutely right about this and no one’s going to mention it? That’s mind-blowing.”
Replying, Rogan noted that the leftist press wasn’t even covering it, seemingly as a way of downplaying a victory won by the right, though doing so meant covering up the truth. He said, commenting on that aspect of matter, “It’s very strange that the media is ignoring it, especially the left-wing media. It’s just too big of a win for the right. And so they’re just ignoring it, and then they’re just highlighting the good things that USAID did, which I’m sure it probably did. Probably had to do some good things to like at least justify its existence.”
Weinstein then noted that it’s not even all that believable that USAID was even doing that many good things, and really he thinks it was just funneling money to various leftist causes. He said, “While as a cover story? I’m not even sure. Maybe it doesn’t change anything. Obviously, this was a mechanism used to funnel money to all sorts of things that we didn’t vote on that don’t make sense in light of our constitutional structure.”
Adding to that, Weinstein said that while he isn’t overly thrilled with where the Trump Train appeared headed, he did think what it was doing regarding government corruption was a good thing. He said, “And I’m, you know, I obviously have concerns like everybody else about where this train takes us, but seeing that structure broken up is. It’s a huge relief.”

That’s when Rogan chimed in and commented on George Soros and his seeming ability to push his pet causes with government funds, stating, “They gave $27 million to the George Soros Prosecutor Fund. So our own government is funding this left-wing lunatic who is hiring the most insane prosecutors, who are letting people out of jail, who commit violent crimes.”
Weinstein, tying the situation back to government surveillance of Americans, then noted, “And that’s exactly how this racket worked. Is that the ability to tax the American public and then effectively get us to pay for being propagandized, for being surveilled? That’s the game. And I don’t know what era we currently live in. Obviously there’s a lot that’s confusing about what the Trump administration is up to, but I don’t think any reasonable person could be unhappy that we are exiting that era.”
