In a very unintentionally funny incident that came out of CNN’s attempts to report on the Anchorage, Alaska, Summit between President Donald Trump and Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin, the two main figures involved were caught getting testy with each other when a hot mic recorded their testy back and forth.
For reference, Trump and Putin met in Anchorage to discuss potential peace plans for the grinding Russo-Ukraine War that has claimed potentially hundreds of thousands of lives and wrought significant damage inside Ukraine, while also draining NATO countries of weapons and munitions reserves. CNN and the rest of the regime media did its best to breathlessly and negatively report on the meeting.
That led to two high-profile CNN hosts, Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper, getting caught being testy with the control room during a live shot that came as part of the special edition of CNN’s “The Lead” meant to cover the summit. The moment came when Cooper was trying to throw the coverage over to Tapper, who was in a very snippy exchange with the CNN control room.
The clip of the incident that took off online involved CNN’s chief national correspondent, John King, saying, “Only if they announced a total ceasefire, air, land, ground, would that be acceptable to Ukraine? Otherwise, we’re going to keep going and keep going, but we’re going to know in a few minutes.”
Cooper, responding, tried to cut over to Tapper. He said, “Let’s go back to Jake in Anchorage. Jake?” The show then cut over to Tapper, who was not a composed news host but instead arguing with the CNN control room about his show. He was caught snapping, as the show cut over, “I’m fine. Just give me my show back!”
Trying to play the incident off with a laugh, Cooper said, with a big grin at Tapper’s expense on his face, “The show’s back!” Tapper was caught off guard and haltingly said, stumbling over his words while trying to get back on track, “All right, here we go. So, let’s go now to Senator Schiff who we have here. Senator Schiff is joining me, ready to go in — the senator — the Democratic senator from California.”

President Trump, for his part, seems to have done well in the summit and, after it, posted after the meeting and noted that he is working with the Russians and Ukrainians. He said, “A great and very successful day in Alaska! The meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia went very well, as did a late night phone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, and various European Leaders, including the highly respected Secretary General of NATO.”
He added, “It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a Peace Agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere Ceasefire Agreement, which often times do not hold up. President Zelenskyy will be coming to D.C., the Oval Office, on Monday afternoon. If all works out, we will then schedule a meeting with President Putin. Potentially, millions of people’s lives will be saved. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
