WATCH: Trump Makes Hilarious, Clever Crack At Journalists for Attacking His Crackdown on Crime

Defending his crackdown on rampant crime in Washington, D.C., during a press conference about that matter, amongst others, President Donald Trump got in a great crack at the journalists who claim everything is awesome and no big effort to deal with chaos and crime in the city is needed, syaing that they ought to go on “ride alongs” with police to witness the DC crime mess for themselves.

As background, President Donald Trump announced what he referred to as the liberation of DC in a post on Truth Social, saying, “Washington, D.C. will be LIBERATED today! Crime, Savagery, Filth, and Scum will DISAPPEAR. I will, MAKE OUR CAPITAL GREAT AGAIN! The days of ruthlessly killing, or hurting, innocent people, are OVER! I quickly fixed the Border (ZERO ILLEGALS in last 3 months!), D.C. is next!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

Additionally, speaking about the matter in a press conference from the White House Briefing Room, the president declared that it is “Liberation Day in D.C.” because he is using the military to finally “rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor, and worse.”

As could be expected, the woke media has gone berserk ever since he announced the liberation of the nation’s capital from the vice grip of crime in which it has found itself, with the mainstream media citing data from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to claim that violent crime has dropped 26% since 2024. Ignored, however, is that those numbers are at odds with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) data, amongst other sources.

Instead of just arguing over numbers, however, President Trump showed the lie by telling journalists they should go ahead and ride along with the police officers if they think things are so great and safe in DC. He said, commenting on the matter in a press conference on Wednesday, August 13, that it’s ok with him if reporters go on ride alongs with the police to see the massive crime problem.

That came when a reporter at the press event asked him, “Would you encourage members of the press to do ride alongs with the DC police to understand how serious this crime issue is?” Responding, the president said, “Sure. It’s okay to me if [journalists] want to do it. We’re gonna work with the D.C. police.”

Continuing, the president argued that the police are trying to do what they can, but aren’t getting the proper support they deserve from the incompetent mayor. He said, “They’ve got some good people in there, not all, but a lot of good, very professional [people]. And, you know, we have a big force. I think they said 3,500. They’re always asking [Democrat Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser], who’s a very nice woman, but she’s got to do the job.”

Further, he added that the crime numbers are far worse than the DC government would like to admit, saying, “You know, we’ve worked with the mayor for 6 months and she’s been here for many years and the numbers are worse than they ever were. Don’t let anyone tell you they’re not and the whole statistical charts that they made, the whole thing is a rigged deal.”
