In the latest bit of hilariously entertaining news out of the failed state of California, the far-left newspaper called the Los Angeles Times, a very influential one in the state, has called for California generally and Los Angeles specifically to pull out of hosting the 2028 Summer Olympics because hosting the event will mean cooperating with President Trump.
For reference, Los Angeles is currently scheduled to host the Summer Olympics in 2028. Normally a great honor for the hosting city, state, and country, this particular rendition of the summer Olympics has drawn a great deal of controversy on both the right and left in America.
Namely, conservatives are upset that a state that’s as much a disaster as California will be hosting the special event, due to the bad impression of America it could create, and the left is mad that California will have to work with the Trump Administration to properly secure the event.
Leading the charge from the left in demanding that LA give up the 2028 Olympics was Gustavo Arellano of the LA Times, who wrote, in an op-ed about how the city must avoid giving Trump an optics and power win by hosting the event, “L.A. needs to withdraw from hosting the Olympics — the sooner the better.”
Arellano was particularly upset about the group that is tasked with organizing the Olympics event, called Los Angeles 2028, announced that it is making President Trump the head of the task force. Arellano insisted that the group’s chair, Casey Wasserman, had kissed up to Trump rather than defending the city’s leftist values. He wrote, in part, “I haven’t seen such a suck-up since the last time I vacuumed my dad’s pool.”
Then, after further whining about how Wasserman allegedly sucked up to President Trump too much, Arellano angrily derided the notion that it would be a good thing for LA and California to work with President Trump. He wrote, “The federal government was always going to play a role in providing security for the 2028 Olympics, just as it has for previous Games in the U.S. But Trump, as the head of the task force, now gets to personally oversee our own siege.”
Adding to that, the far-left LA Times writer insisted, “With the Games happening in a presidential election year, Trump would love nothing more than to traipse around an L.A. radically transformed by his deportation blitzkrieg to proclaim his mission accomplished and broadcast his conquest to the world.”

Then, using slang generally used by illegal aliens for ICE and other immigration enforcement agencies, “la migra,” Arellano suggested that it was wrong for LA to force its taxpayers to subsidize a PR victory for President Trump. He said, “I don’t want my money going toward something that Trump will use to bolster his noxious legacy. I’m not going to cheer on Wasserman as he chums up Trump while la migra continues to terrorize L.A., possibly for months, if not years.”

Commenting on the matter to Fox News Digital, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said, “It’s a shame that LA Times ‘columnists’ are so filled with Trump Derangement Syndrome that they would turn away such a unifying event as the Olympics, which are expected to generate $18 billion in economic activity.”
Concluding, Kelly insisted that the Trump team put in charge of the Olympics will bring America together, saying, “With world-class showman President Trump at the helm of the White House Olympics Task Force, these games will effectively bring the country together and showcase all that makes America great.”
