Surprising nobody, Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger, is under fire for accepting a $50,000 donation from Pin Ni, a Chinese businessman tied to the CCP. Desperately trying to shift blame, Spanberger’s campaign emphasized her national security record and dismissed claims about her divided loyalty.
For context, critics such as Winsome Earle-Sears’ campaign accused her of taking money from foreign interests and questioned her relationship to the CCP. Additionally, many recent scandals have drawn attention to the unwarranted influence of the CCP in Democratic politics.
In any case, the donations at the center of this scandal came in the form of two $25,000 installments from Pin Ni, president of Wanxiang America. During a 2021 press release, the automotive conglomerate explained the deep ties between the founder of the firm and the Chinese government.
Explainign their deep ties to the CCP, Wanxiang stated, “[The founder, Lu Guanqiu] has always listened to the [Chinese Communist] Party and followed the Party,” adding “[Xi Jinping praised Lu Guanqiu, saying he was] in line with the Party Central Committee. He always actively does what our Party committees and governments at all levels advocate.”
Reacting to these troubling allegations, Abigail Spanberger’s Campaign Spokesperson vainly sought to distance the Democratic candidate from the scandal. A press release stated, “Virginians know that Abigail Spanberger has a demonstrated record of standing up for America’s national security, delivering results for Virginia families across party lines, and never backing down from keeping the American people safe.”
Still not done distracting the public, the statement read, “Her campaign will remain focused on what Virginians care about most, keeping our communities safe, driving down costs, protecting Virginia jobs, and making sure Virginia’s public schools are the very best in America.”
Concluding the statement, her representatives claimed, “At the CIA, she had one mission: protect and serve the United States of America. She worked undercover to identify threats to national security, prevent terrorist attacks, stop the spread of nuclear weapons, and track transnational criminal networks.”

However, a representative for her opponent, Winsome Earle-Sears, took a different tack. The Republican’s office stated, “Taking $50,000 from someone with clear Chinese Communist Party ties tells us all we need to know. You can’t claim to stand up to foreign threats while pocketing money from someone celebrated by the CCP.”
Unfortunately, connections between the CCP and Democratic politicians are all too common. As we reported, FBI Director Kash Patel exposed a blue state bureaucrat who had worked for prominent Democrats in the New York State Government.
Explaining the situation in a tweet, FBI Director Kash Patel wrote, “While Americans were locked down and desperate for PPE, Linda Sun and Chris Hu cashed in – allegedly lining their pockets while serving CCP interests.”
Continuing his denunciation, he wrote that, “This corruption that endangered lives.” Additionally, Patel issued a confident promise to the nation that he will not tolerate such flagrant disregard for the law, saying, “The FBI will not tolerate public officials who sell out their country.”
