The State of Florida executed Edward Zakrzewski, 60, on August 1, 2025, at Florida State Prison for murdering his wife and two children in 1994. This is the ninth time Florida has executed a criminal this year, which is a record since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.
For context, despite the fact that Zakrzewski murdered his family with a crowbar, rope, and machete, numerous woke activists begged to have his sentence commuted. However, the Supreme Court denied a stay of the execution.
In his final remarks, Zakrzewski, somewhat surprisingly, thanked his executors. The convicted murderer said, “I want to thank the good people of the Sunshine State for killing me in the most cold, calculated, clean, humane, efficient way possible. I have no complaint.”
Despite the vile nature of his crime and clear legal precedent allowing the execution to move forward in this case, a small group of protesters demonstrated against the execution. John Stewart, an activist with Floridians for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (FADP), explained the protest to local news.
Ranting about the execution, the activist said, “Take them out of death row and out of isolation. We’ll save a lot of money on a practice that does nothing, nothing to reduce the murder rate, never has, no study has shown it has any effect on the murder rate.”
Another demonstrator at the small protest blamed Florida Governor DeSantis, saying, “The people who are family and friends of the person being executed are innocent, and Governor DeSantis is executing their loved ones. Keep them in prison. There’s no good reason to kill someone who is already locked up … we are better than this.”
Despite the opposition from woke Democrats, President Trump has remained a staunch advocate for the death penalty. In his recent remarks, the president outlined his plan to bring back federal executions in full force after outgoing President Joe Biden commuted the death sentences of 37 inmates on death row.

Offering a confident plan for the future, Donald Trump declared, “As soon as I am inaugurated, I will direct the Justice Department to vigorously pursue the death penalty to protect American families and children from violent rapists, murderers, and monsters. We will be a Nation of Law and Order again!”
Deeply upset by Biden’s mass communications, Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) slammed the selfish decision by drawing attention to the victims of these monsters and their families. He stated, “It’s two days before Christmas. I can only imagine the grief and the shock that these families are experiencing as they get ready for the holidays, remembering the loved ones that were lost and now having to deal with this sort of insult to injury.”
Continuing his epic rebuke, the principal Republican blasted former President Joe Biden for his shortsighted and unacceptable commutations. He added, “This is someone that Joe Biden, on the eve of Christmas, decided to commute his sentence. This is nuts. This is totally nuts. And so, the outrage is real, it’s justified. And again, Joe Biden, on his way out, is again cementing his status as one of our worst presidents.”
