As political tensions remain high in America, it looks like that might finally have spilled over into real-world violence, and it doesn’t look like it was the “insurrectionists” that did. Rather, it’s looking much more like the situation when Steve Scalise was shot in
This time, the tragic news is coming out of Sayreville, New Jersey. There, a Republican Councilwoman named Eunice Dwumfour, just 30 years old, was found shot to death.
She was found dead inside her white SUV, a Nissan, which was crashed near her apartment complex when found. Though the motive of the attack is not yet known, RedState reports that “It appears to have been a targeted attack on the young politician”.
Local news, reporting on the situation, noted that:
According to a preliminary investigation, RLS Media has learned that at approximately 7:17 p.m., police received several 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of Samuel Circle and Check Avenue.
Upon arrival, police found a vehicle struck by multiple rounds of gunfire with a woman inside severely wounded.
That report went on to add that a suspect was seen fleeing the area after the nighttime shooting, but no arrests have yet been made in the case.
Local journalist and community organizer Charlie Kratovil posted about the incident on Twitter, including a video of the police response and saying “This was the scene overnight in the Sayreville development known as La Mer, where a 30-year-old Councilwoman was murdered. Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour’s white SUV crashed after the gunshots rang out. It appears she was targeted though the killer’s motive is still not clear.” Here’s that video:

Tributes to Dwumfour poured in after her murder. Governor Phil Murphy offered his condolences in a tweet and statement. In the statement, he said:
“I am stunned by the news of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour’s murder last evening in an act of gun violence. Her career of public service was just beginning, and by all accounts she had already built a reputation as a committed member of the Borough Council who took her responsibility with the utmost diligence and seriousness. I send my condolences to Councilwoman Dwumfour’s family and friends, her governing body colleagues, and the entire Sayreville community.
“Sayreville is a proud, tight-knit, and safe community and I know that it will come together, as it always has, in common purpose. The New Jersey State Police are supporting the ongoing investigation, and I urge anyone with information to contact either the Sayreville Police or the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.”
Adding to that in the tweet, he said “I am stunned by the news of Sayreville Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour’s murder last evening in an act of gun violence. I send my condolences to her family and friends, and the entire Sayreville community. I urge anyone with information to contact Sayreville local law enforcement.”

RedState, adding more context, said “A motive for the cold-blooded slaying has yet to be determined, but heated political rhetoric has reached a boiling point post-Roe v. Wade, with radical leftist groups like Our Rights DC regularly waging harassment campaigns outside the homes of Supreme Court justices. As we reported last year, one unhinged leftist showed up at Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home with the intention — and tools — to assassinate Kavanaugh.”
