WATCH: Pelosi Has Total Meltdown Live on TV when Host Presses Her on Insider Trading Allegations

Things got very entertaining to watch when former Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appeared on CNN to speak to host Jake Tapper and got extremely agitated when he asked her about President Donald Trump’s accusations that she had engaged in insider trading as a member of Congress and needs to be investigated for it.

For reference, President Trump spoke about Rep. Pelosi during a press conference on Wednesday, July 30, during which he commented on the legislation put forward by Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) that would ban insider stock trading by members of Congress. The president said he was in favor of that idea, and then took to attacking Rep. Pelosi.

Doing so, he alleged that her wealth came from “having inside information” that she used to trade, saying, “You know, Nancy Pelosi became rich by having inside information. She made a fortune with her husband, and I think that’s disgraceful. So in that sense, I’d like it, but I’d have to really see the I’d have, you know, I study these things very carefully. And this just happened . . . what I do think is Nancy Pelosi should be investigated because what she has the highest return of anybody practically in the history of Wall Street, save a few.”

So, Tapper asked Rep. Pelosi about that accusation when she appeared on his “The Lead” with him, and in response she went berserk and snapped both at Tapper for asking a question she didn’t expect and at President Trump for supposedly “projecting” his own foibles onto her with the latest accusations hurled her way.

Beginning, Tapper started by describing what Trump said, telling Pelosi, “This afternoon, President Trump mentioned you, and he made an allegation about your investments. I want to roll that clip and then give you a chance to respond.” There were then technical difficulties that got in the way of playing the clip, and Pelosi got in the way of Tapper reading it out.

Instead, she started snapping at him for even repeating the accusations, attacking the news show host for asking her about a critical piece of news connected to her. She furiously said, “Why do you have to read that? We’re here to talk about the 60th anniversary of Medicaid. That’s what I agreed to come to talk about and what that means in the election.”

Tapper, trying to calm her down, insisted that he was not trying to trap her but rather was attempting to give her a chance to respond to the president’s vociferous accusations. He said, as Pelosi snapped at him, “I wanted to give you a chance just to respond. He accused you of insider trading. What’s your response to that?”

Pelosi then took him up on it, and went berserk, snapping about the accusations. She said, beginning her rant, “That’s ridiculous. In fact, I very much support the stop, the trading of members of Congress, not that I think anybody’s doing anything wrong. If they are, they are prosecuted and they go to jail. But because of the confidence it instills in the American people, don’t worry about this.”

Continuing, she insisted that she isn’t the family trader, her husband is, quickly adding that he hasn’t done anything wrong either. She said, “But I have no concern about the obvious investments that have been made over time. I’m not into it. My husband is. But it isn’t anything to do with anything insider.”

Adding to that, Rep. Pelosi went on to allege that President Trump is only repeating the accusations about her trading in an attempt to cover up his own problems, insisting, “But the president has his own exposure, so he’s always projecting. He’s always projecting. And let’s not give him any more time on that, please. We’re going forward here.”

Concluding, she said, “And I’m very proud of my family. And while he might make fun of us, while somebody inspired by him breaks into our home and in a deadly fashion hits my husband over the head, and he thinks that’s a riot, I’d rather not go into some of my other complaints about him right now, rather to talk about the 60th anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare, what a triumph, a great pillar of economic and health security for the American people.”
