Speaking during an MSNBC conversation with Rep. Jamie Raskin, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough exposed the serious hypocrisy of Democrats on the Epstein files issue when he asked why they are now going so hard to demand that President Trump reveal everything the DOJ has on Epstein, after they remained silent on the issue for the years they were in power with Biden in the White House.
The interview with Rep. Raskin came on Thursday, July 17, with Scarborough pressing him on the issue because Democrats had suddenly started pushing, in the House, for the Epstein files to be released. President Trump finally relented on Thursday, calling on AG Pam Bondi to release grand jury testimony having to do with Epstein.
In any case, Scarborough’s comments were prompted when Rep. Raskin started ranting about Esptein’s connections to the powerful and the need for them to be held to account. He said, “Epstein was able to use all of his powerful connections, including who was then his best friend, Donald Trump, in order to suppress a real hearing into what had happened.”
He added, noting the horrific nature of what Epstein was up to, “And look, why is this important? Because the sexual abuse of young people and children is a crisis throughout our society. There is, of course, the church scandal, or many church scandals. There’s what happened at Michigan State. There’s what happened at Ohio State.”
That’s when Scarborough chimed in and showed the nonsensical nature of the message the Democrats are pushing, given their total silence on the matter during the Biden years. He said, “But, Congressman, you could have gotten that from ’21 to ’25, when Democrats controlled DOJ. It was a crisis then. It’s a crisis now. Why didn’t Democrats call for it from ’21 to ’25?”
Raskin was stumped by the question and ended up trying to turn it on Trump without actually answering the question or answering why he didn’t care about it until now. He said, falsely insinuating the worst about Trump’s short-term relationship with Epstein, “So, I mean, you’d have to go back and look specifically at particular prosecutorial decisions and what was taking place in terms of the other cases. So, I don’t know, we could try to reconstruct that record. But the point is, is that Donald Trump is the one who has led the crusade to say that Epstein, who was his very close friend, and there’s all kinds of pictures of them and so, that Epstein was at the center of this broad conspiracy.”
Continuing to rant about Trump in a misleading way instead of answering Scarborough’s basic question, one that had obviously exposed his hypocrisy, Rep. Raskin said, “He is now in a position to do exactly what he had demanded, which was to release all of the files. And so, why is that not happening? That’s the question.”

Concluding, Raskin then tried to foist blame onto former AG Merrick Garland, saying, “I can’t answer for Merrick Garland or anybody else in the Department of Justice. But I will tell you that there is a bipartisan consensus in the Judiciary Committee now that all of these records need to be released.”
