Firing back at left-wing lies about the so-called ‘Maryland Man, ‘Kilmar Abrego Garcia, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele posted a video of the gang member engaging in leisurely activities like gardening and soccer while imprisoned, contradicting Garcia’s claims of torture, beatings, and weight loss in a U.S. lawsuit.
For context, Democrats have been melting down since the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) deported the Salvadoran illegal immigrant Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to his country of origin. The DHS proved that Garcia was a known associate of the violent MS-13 gang and had their symbols tattooed on his body.
The President of El Salvador harshly criticized the woke media and biased judges for uncritically accepting Garcia’s allegations without a second glance, drawing attention to his healthy appearance and obvious weight gain. Initially, Garcia was deported to El Salvador, but eventually, he was returned to the U.S., where he faced charges of gang violence and trafficking.
In any case, Bukele took to X on July 3, 2025, to blast apart the DNC narrative, saying, “Apparently, anything a criminal claims is accepted as truth by the mainstream media and the crumbling Western judiciary. But the man wasn’t tortured, nor did he lose weight. In fact, photos show he gained weight while in detention… If he’d been tortured, sleep-deprived, and starved, why does he look so well in every picture? Why would he gain weight? Why are there no bruises, or even dark circles under his eyes?”
Following up with a sarcastic jibe, the Salvadoran President posted, “Some people will see tons of evidence and still believe a criminal with ZERO evidence. Are they zombies or what? Also, losing and regaining 30 pounds in two weeks is impossible.”
Taking another swipe at the DNC narrative, Bukele posted a photo of Garcia meeting with prominent Democrats; he said, “Kilmar Abrego Garcia, miraculously risen from the “death camps” & “torture”, now sipping margaritas with Sen. Van Hollen in the tropical paradise of El Salvador!🍹”
In the comments under the post, conservatives rallied in support of Bukele. One such comment said, “These photos of a Democrat US senator having margaritas with a t*rrorist in El Salvador will be used by the GOP for countless political campaigns. Rightfully so.”

Building on this point, another said, “Thank you for sharing this Nayib. His family exploited democrats for over $200K in donations because they thought he was in a concentration camp.” Pointing out the obvious, one commenter noted, “Wow, he looks remarkably safe, and not persecuted! I guess the Trump Administration can clearly get the withholding of removal lifted, and Mr. Abrego can enjoy his homeland.”
Annoyed by Democrats’ love for an illegal immigrant and gaming member, one reply noted, “Why is a US Senator meeting with a foreign illegal MS-13 gang member who violently abused his wife and broke into our country?” adding, “He should be focused on his own constituents and not parading around San Salvador meeting with non citizens. Period!”
