In a recently unearthed video, dozens of protestors can be seen storming the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s budget reconciliation markup, protesting non-existent cuts to Medicare. Democrats capitalized on the event by thanking the protestors, despite their dangerous and illegal actions.
For context, since the January 6 debacle, Democrats have treated the date as if it were a national day of mourning. However in the case, where Democratic protestors tormed the capital, Democrats tahked the demonstrators instead of freaking out.
Such was shown in a May 13, 2025, post to X, formerly Twitter, by Libs of TikTok, where she said, “BREAKING: Democrat protesters stormed the Rayburn Building and staged an insurrection in DC today.” Following on with a sarcastic quip, the conservative influencer said, “I’m shaking. This is worse than Pearl Harbor and 9/11.”
In the comments under the post, conservatives were enraged by the footage, as shown in one comment which said, “Arrest them all, starve them, make them sleep on the floor, don’t give them a lawyer and lock them in solitary confinement with no charges for at least two years. It’s a fair country. What goes around, comes around, right?”
Speculating about the motivations, one commenter wrote, “They did it as a dare to Republicans to have them arrested. They know weak and spineless Republicans won’t use the police to clear them out because photos of people in wheelchairs being arrested would be the lead story from every media outlet.” Building on this point, another noted, “We cannot just keep dismissing every violent protest they have. When a Democratic president gets into power again, do you think they will be lenient to Republicans? Absolutely not.”
Pointing to the hypocrisy of the Democrats, a conservative reacted, “The only insurrection here is the one the left keeps trying to start with their unhinged behavior. These so-called ‘protesters’ need to face the consequences of their actions.” Making a similar point, a response said, “Why are we not hearing more about the corrupt fake J6 panel indictments? Set aside their auto pen pardons and send the whole Pelosi-staged panel to jail.”
Annoyed, one comment stated, “Looks like a violation of the fire codes. Where is the fire marshal? Same thing for blocking highways that may prevent medical emergency vehicles from getting through. The laws only apply to us everyday sane people.”

Calling for harsh punishments, another response read, “Arrest every one of them. Throw them in jail, don’t give them any trials. Don’t let them have any lawyers just throw them in jail. I mean fair is fair.” Building on this argument, another comment said, “They need to be locked up, let them be rounded up by SWAT teams as well. Most sacred place of ooooouuuurrrrr democrmocciiieesss and such. Is this how it is done?”

Rounding out the comments, one user sarcastically joked, “No this can’t be right This must be those insurrectionist from Jan. 6th. You know the Trump supporters who got prison time for a mostly peaceful protest. No these are Democrat insurrectionist not being peaceful, and Capital Police did nothing, and nobody arrested. Interesting!”
