It was yet another day of hatred and vitriol at ABC’s “The View,” this time with co-host Whoopi Goldberg asking if America needs “to see white people get beaten up” when speaking about the death of Tyre Nichols, who got beaten to death by cops in Memphis after resisting arrest. Nichols and the officers were all black.
Specifically, Whoopi said “Do we need to see White people also get beat before anybody will do anything?”
She then moved to clarify her remarks and tamp down on the likely to occur public freak out, saying “I’m not suggesting that. So don’t write us and tell me what a racist I am. I’m just asking is that what people have to see in order to wake up and realize this affects us all?”
Watch her here:
Adding to that, Whoopi called for police reform from the ground up, saying that the departments can’t just hire more minorities but rather need to change wholesale. In her words:
“Clearly it doesn’t matter if it’s a white policeman or black policeman. It is a problem in the policing itself.
“It seems things don’t seem to make sense to people unless it’s somebody they can feel or they can recognize.”
The Daily Mail, reporting on the Tyre Nichols situation to which Whoopi was referring, said:
Five officers have been charged with second-degree murder of Nichols, who died in hospital three days after the attack, and fired from the force.
Horrific bodycam footage showed the FedEx worker being beaten for three minutes while officers screamed profanities at him.
Nichols calls out for his mother before his limp body is propped against a squad car while the officers exchange fist-bumps.
Though her question was absurd, Whoopi was one of the less unhinged leftists when it came to discussing the death of Nichols at the hands of the five cops. One Democrat, Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla) said in a since-deleted tweet: “Doesn’t matter what color those police officers are. The murder of Tyre Nichols is anti-Black and the result of white supremacy.”
Similarly, former ESPN host Jemele Hill said “I need so many people to understand this regarding Tyre Nichols. Several of the police officers who murdered Freddie Gray were Black. The entire system of policing is based on white supremacist violence. We see people under the boot of oppression carry its water all the time.”
Similarly, the Washington Post wrote, “The widely viewed videos of the Nichols beating provided fodder for right-wing media ecosystems that routinely blame Black America’s maladies on Black America, and spawned nuanced conversations among Black activists about how systemic racism can manifest in the actions of non-White people.”
And, of course, The New York Times wrote that the “problems of race and policing” are the result of “an entrenched police culture of aggression and dehumanization of Black people.”
So, no matter what, the leftists think that white people and white supremacy are always to blame…and are asking if whites need to be beaten up…
