In a not overly surprising but still jaw-dropping and infuriating announcement, DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin revealed that new data shows ICE agents are facing a whopping 500% increase in attacks when trying to do their jobs and enforce immigration laws. McLaughlin revealed the information to Breitbart News.
The Department of Homeland Security secretary’s comments come in the context of the anti-immigration and Customs Enforcement riots that have occurred around America, particularly in the massive riots in Los Angeles and similarly violent and radical, but smaller, riots in Seattle. Those riots have come in response to increased ICE activity targeting illegal aliens for arrest and deportation.
In any case, commenting on the new data to Breitbart News, McLaughlin explained that ICE agents performing just basic law enforcement tasks like locating and arresting illegals have faced a huge spike in assaults, saying, “Today, the Department of Homeland Security released new data revealing that ICE law enforcement is now facing a 500% increase in assaults while carrying out enforcement operations.”
Continuing, McLaughlin referenced the recent chaos and violence that was attendant to ICE’s arrest of an illegal alien named Roberto Carlos Munoz. When attempting to avoid arrest in Minnesota, Munoz, who is a convicted child sex offender in addition to being an illegal alien, dragged one ICE agent 50 yards with his car.
Commenting on that incident and using it to show the massively increased threat environment ICE agents are facing, McLaughlin told Breitbart, “Just this week, an ICE officer was dragged 50 yards by a car while arresting an illegal alien sex offender. Every day the men and women of ICE put their lives on the line to protect and defend the lives of American citizens.”
McLaughlin then slammed the Democrat politicians who are pushing anti-ICE rhetoric, indicating that they are at least partially responsible for the increasing violence ICE faces. She told Breitbart, “Make no mistake, Democrat politicians like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Governor Tim Walz, and Mayor Bass of Los Angeles are contributing to the surge in assaults of our ICE officers through their repeated vilification and demonization of ICE.”
Adding to that, McLaughlin noted to Breitbart that the Democrats have glorified rioters of the sort who have been attacking ICE agents in the streets, saying, “From comparisons to the modern-day Nazi gestapo to glorifying rioters, the violent rhetoric of these sanctuary politicians is despicable. This violence against ICE must end.”

Amongst those Democrats who has pushed just rhetoric is House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who recently threatened to dox ICE agents, saying, “Every single ICE agent who is engaged in this aggressive overreach and are trying to hide their identities from the American people will be unsuccessful in doing that.”
Continuing, he said, “This is America. This is not the Soviet Union. We’re not behind the iron curtain. This is not the 1930s. And every single one of them, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes will of course be identified.” He added, “That is in fact the law and we’re going to make sure that the American people have the transparency necessary to hold people accountable when they’re folks who cross the line here in America. That’s what’s going to happen.”
