After a subpoena from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Chicago suspended its CityKey ID website, which provided official identification to illegal immigrants. In response to the ICE investigation, City Clerk Anna Valencia halted online applications, accusing the Trump administration of a “witch hunt” to instill fear and undermine democracy.
Mayor Brandon Johnson has repeatedly urged resistance against federal immigration enforcement, and an expected court order could escalate the issue. However, despite complaints from the Democrats, the majority of Americans support ICE and its actions.
In a desperate attempt to deflect the blame for the obviously short-sighted program, Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia said, “This is Trump doing a witch hunt and intentionally trying to instill fear in people so that they can overtake our democracy.”
Announcing the news in a June 17, 2025, post to X, a prominent conservative wrote, “ICE Subpoena Prompts Chicago to Suspend Website Helping Illegal Aliens Obtain IDs. At some point, I think city officials need to be arrested for aiding and abetting criminals…city officials have said they do not have to comply with the subpoena. However, if ICE obtained a court order the situation could take a significant turn.”
In the comments under her post, conservatives were enraged with the blatant disregard for the law. One such comment said, “I agree with you Judi, they do need to be arrested for all they are doing, let us be honest, this was never about compassion, it is all about body count, the more illegals they have to more body count will be in the census and change the electoral college and give more seats, that is why they defend their blue cities.”
Objecting to the weak defense Chicago officials tried to use to deflect blame, one comment read, “Do those city officials even know what a witch hunt is? Trump’s people are looking for something, they know it’s there due to their own advertising. So this isn’t a witch hunt. Democrats are so stupid.”
In a lengthy comment, one commenter blasted the Democrats for facilitating this program, saying, “@ChicagosMayor are projecting fake moral superiority. After all, the illegals are potential voters. Neither of these not so fine people have a moral code, integrity, or character,” adding, “They are both imposters, corrupt politicians, thieves who steal our taxpayer money for personal enrichment, to pay illegals for their vote, and to funnel as much free shit to the illegals while citizens do without.”

Continuign the epic takedown, the user noted, “Neither one of these people care if the streets of Chicago have multiple shootouts, needles littering the sidewalk, homeless living and shitting on the streets, thieves who loot stores, criminals who commit heinous crimes, drugs sold anytime of the day or night.”
Demolsihing the DNC narrative, the comment read, “Chicago is filled to the brim with citizens who don’t seem to care and are there for only the free shit. I have lived there twice and couldn’t get out fast enough. Put all of this together, these two not so fine individuals are traitors. Put all together this clearly makes them ✅DISHONORABLE PEOPLE. Their families must be so proud.”
