Tom Homan went nuclear on a woke NBC hack on Monday, June 9, exposing the leftist reporter as being “dishonest” when speaking to Fox News Channel’s Lawrence Jones on “Fox & Friends.” In response, the reporter had a total temper tantrum about Homan’s clapback to his hit piece.
It all started when Homan spoke to NBC News’ Jacob Soboroff on Saturday, June 7, about the state of things in California, with Soboroff asking, “There have been threats previously that if you stand in the way of your enforcement operations, you could be subject potentially to arrest. Are you saying that about Mayor Bass and Gov. Newsom? Are they at risk of being arrested?”
Homan, in the allegedly edited clip that was released, said that those who try to hide illegal aliens from federal law enforcement will face the legal consequences of having done so, saying, “I’ll say it about anybody. You cross that line, it’s a felony to knowingly harbor and conceal an illegal alien. It’s a felony to impede law enforcement doing their job.”
Then, speaking to California Governor Gavin Newsom on Sunday, June 8, Soboroff characterized that as Homan saying he’d arrest the governor. He said, somewhat mischaracterizing Homan’s response, “Tom Homan, the Border Czar, said to me yesterday, he did not rule out arresting you nor Mayor Bass if you interfere.”
Newsom, in turn, went berserk and snapped to Soboroff, “He’s a tough guy. Why doesn’t he do that? He knows where to find me. But you know what? Let your hands off 4-year-old girls who are trying to get educated. Let your hands off these poor people. They’re just trying to live their lives, man. Trying to live their lives, paying their taxes. Been here for 10 years. The fear, the horror.”
It was to that situation that Homan responded when speaking to Jones on Monday, June 9, claiming that Soboroff was a “joke” and “dishonest reporter,” as shown by his alleged mischaracterization of Homan’s remarks about Newsom. He began, “Well, first of all, it’s just ridiculous. That reporter from MSNBC? He’s a joke. He’s a dishonest reporter.”
Explaining what he had actually said, Homan told Jones, “What we discussed was, for those protesters that cross the line, I’ve said it many times, you can protest, you get your First Amendment rights. But when you cross that line, you put hands on an ICE officer, or you destroy property. I’d say that you’re impeding law enforcement or you’re knowingly harboring or concealing an illegal alien, that’s a crime. And the Trump administration is not going to tolerate it. You cross that line, but once you cross it, you go to the Department of Justice.”

Homan then explained, commenting on the line about Newsom and arresting him, “Then the reporter asked me, ‘Well, could Gov. Newsom or Mayor Bass be arrested?’ I said, ‘Well, no one’s above the law. If they cross the line and commit a crime, absolutely, they can.’ So there was no discussion about arresting Newsom.”
Further, Homan alleged that Soboroff had edited the interview to mischaracterize what he had said, saying, “He’s a dishonest reporter. He took a 20-minute interview and chopped it up.” He added, “I never threatened to arrest the governor. I said nobody is above the law – but I also said they haven’t crossed a line.”
Soboroff, angry about Homan’s allegations, later appeared on MSNBC’s “Ana Cabrera Reports,” snapping that really it was Homan who was the liar. He said, “Tom Homan said we cut a clip and took his words out of context. We did anything but. In fact, we presented the clips in their entirety in all of our airings, including on NBCNews.com.”
Further commenting on the clips and claiming he was vindicated by the tapes, Soboroff then claimed, “It’s right there on the tape. We were very clear in giving the full context—Homan said they hadn’t crossed a legal line but reserved the right to act if they did. That’s exactly what our reporting showed.”
