In the wake of former DOGE head and sudden Trump critic Elon Musk going loony on X and making seemingly slanderous accusations against President Donald Trump, the Democrats turned on a dime on a major issue to join in the smearing of the president, leading to them, in turn, getting obliterated on X.
It all started as President Trump and Mr. Musk got into a vituperative spat online over whether the “Big, Beautiful Bill” is good because it cuts taxes for working Americans and funds deportations, while also cutting spending somewhat, or bad because the deficit remains and the national debt will keep going up.
Elon, taking things way too far in the spat, accused President Trump of hiding the Epstein files because he was an Epstein client. Kicking off with some absurdity for the first post in that ridiculous thread, Elon said, “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Then, in a second post, Elon said, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
For reference, Trump did know Epstein when Epstein lived in Miami and was temporarily a member at the Mar-a-Lago club. Further, Trump took two domestic flights between Miami and New York with Epstein. However, those flights were with Trump’s family members when Trump’s plane was being repaired, and Trump kicked Epstein out of Mar-a-Lago when he caught Epstein being creepy with teenage staff members.
The Democratic Party’s X account then absurdly chimed in and called for the bill to be torpedoed and Epstein files released, an absurd call to action given their history of not only attacking Elon for his common-sense DOGE cuts, but also of downplaying the Epstein scandal and claiming much of it to be a “conspiracy theory.” In any case, joining in and siding with Elon to attack Trump, they wrote, “KILL THE BILL AND RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES!”
Responding, Tennessee Republican and noted X personality Robby Starbuck, mainly known for his anti-DEI takes, went nuclear on the Democrats for turning on a dime and supporting releasing the files for the first time ever as a way of attacking the president, obviously caring not a bit for Epstein’s victims.
He wrote, noting just how detestable it is to take that stance, “I believe this is the first time Democrats have ever called for the Epstein files to be released. Think about that. They didn’t want child rapists to be outed until they thought info inside the files *might* be politically helpful. Absolutely sick and evil.”

But the Democrats didn’t back down. According to The Latin Times, Democratic Reps. Stephen Lynch and Robert Garcia fired off a letter to FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi, demanding, “We ask you to immediately clarify whether this allegation is true and respond to this letter with the requested information and documentation.”
