Fashion model Jeremy Ruehlemann died recently, with his friends announcing on Sunday that he had passed away at the age of 27. His cause of death was not revealed to the public in those announcements.
Ruehlmemann had, the New York Post reports, “walked and modeled for designers including Christian Siriano, John Varvatos, Superdry, Perry Ellis, and more. He also appeared in publications like GQ and Playhouse Magazine.”
His friends and coworkers took to social media to honor his memory. Christian Siriano, for example, posted about his passing on Instagram, saying:
“I have never posted anything like this but to lose a friend who was such a beautiful soul is just really hard. This is for Jeremy, the most beautiful man that gave so much love to everyone he met no matter what. He was one of my muses and he always will be. He inspired me and I will love him forever. I’m sending all my love to his family and friends who lost someone so special. I know we will meet again one day but right now I just want to hug him. Rest well J we all love you so much! Send love to his family today please.”
Similarly, Lexi Wood, a fellow model who was close to Ruehlmann, posted about him on Instagram, saying “I can’t even fathom a world where I would ever have to be writing this. But if you have ever known me you know how much I love jeremy.”
Continuing, she then added “I can’t even articulate the magic that he was. I met jeremy when I was 15, the day I met him I knew my heart would be full forever, he’s my soulmate, my bestfriend, my support, my family, my light, my love, my twin flame… I could go on and on because he was so special.”
And, saying yet more about him and how much he added to her life, she said “But I think what was the most special thing about him was that he was walking sunshine, he made everyone feel like they were the most special in the room, when he went anywhere it was like there was a light beam on him. His love will eternally flow through this world.”
She also noted that she had seen him just days before his passing, saying “ I was with Jeremy on Thursday and in that moment I didn’t know that kissing you and holding you for the millionth time would be the most memorable day of my life. I feel so blessed to love you and be loved by you. There will never be any way that I can sum Jeremy up in one caption… he was my chosen family and I will forever live for him. He was the lover boy to my lover girl. I love you I love you I love you my jer bear. I promise to keep doing what we promised eachother when we were laying on a mattress on the floor when we were teenagers. Jexi forever ♾️ ❤️”
According to a recent article in the New York Post, Jeremy’s father fears that it was drugs that killed his son. The NYP, reporting on that, said:
“He did rehab and had tried to get off prescription medication,” Achim Ruehlemann told the outlet, adding that the painkiller Percocet was among the pills Jeremy couldn’t stop using.
“Obviously, he was not successful.”
The devastated 59-year-old told the outlet that they are not “100% sure exactly what happened” to his son. He said they are awaiting the results of the toxicology test.
