Michael Strahan has been the perfect example of a well-rounded star, using a long and successful NFL career to get a start on television where he became a host of Good Morning America. Strahan was recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was seen celebrating alongside his mother on this momentous day.
I am honored and humbled to receive a star on the @hwdwalkoffame! Many people have been there with me along the way, and I am tremendously grateful to you all.
I'm just having fun, and when you have fun and work hard… Anything is possible. @SMAC @mstrahanbrand pic.twitter.com/5TMQjVWwmy

Strahan’s mother, Louise Strahan, watched as her son was given the first star in the sports entertainment category along Hollywood Boulevard. Strahan was also accompanied by three of his four children. Fellow athlete turned Hollywood star Terry Crews took the podium to think about his friend Strahan, saying the following in a speech quoted by Good Morning America:
“We’re former athletes and you know, the thing is — I remember when you retired and we were sitting there talking about, ‘Should I try this Hollywood thing?’ When I see everything you’ve done since then, it’s so truly inspiring to me, to every person out there as a Black man, as an athlete, as every American should strive to be the kind of person you are. And the one word I have for Michael Strahan is ‘integrity.’ When you see that smile, it’s real, when he says hello to you, it’s real. Mike, no one deserves this more than you. Mike Strahan is the man!”
Strahan, who famously entered space as a part of the Blue Origin NS-19 flight in December 2021, made it clear that this day was greater in his mind:
“I was less nervous going to space. You kind of wake up and you’re here. But I’m happy I’m here because I never thought I’d make it here. I was just living, I was just enjoying life, I was just working. I was just trying to enjoy everything that came my way.”
“But you look and you wonder what’s your purpose. And I found out my purpose is pretty much people. My purpose is pretty much to enjoy life and to spread joy and spread happiness and to enjoy everything that comes your way and to make sure everyone in your life feels important.”
Michael Strahan played his entire 15-year NFL career for the New York Giants, winning two Super Bowls as he anchored the defense year in and out. He made 7 pro bowls and led the league in sacks twice, feats which saw him become named to the NFL’s All-Decade team of the 2000s. The Texas Southern graduate ended his career ranked fifth all-time in sacks, with 141.5.
Now, along with TV, Strahan has begun to dive into the world of talent management, where his company SMAC-Entertainment seeks to be a brand “that builds and guides multi-hyphenate, world-class talent towards dynamic and rewarding careers.”
