As Breitbart recapped, the Marvel and Mission: Impossible star suffered critical injuries after being crushed by heavy equipment during an operation to rescue a family member’s car from the snow.
Renner was run over by his own 7-ton Pistenbully snow groomer in Nevada while trying to use it to free a relative’s vehicle on a private road near Lake Tahoe on New Year’s Day, authorities said.
The accident left him in critical condition with major chest trauma and other injuries, according to a Renner representative.
Authorities are still investigating but have said there were no signs that Renner was impaired and no indication of any foul play.
Renner has consistently been providing updates on his recuperation. In his return to social media, he helped usher in his 52nd birthday with a heart-warming photograph of himself and a large contingent of his medical team while still in the hospital.
“Thank You Renowned Medical ICU team for beginning this journey,” Renner shared to Instagram while featuring an image of his medical team surrounding him in his hospital bed. Renner also shared a video with the 50 Cent’s 2003 hit “In Da Club” which features the lyrics “party like it’s your birthday” blaring in the background.
A previous Breitbart article mentioned that Renner was injured after attempting to “jump into the driver’s seat” of his 7-ton, 14-thousand pound Snow-Cat after it began listing to the side.
Renner used his Sno-Cat, also known as a PistenBully, to free a vehicle driven by a family member from the snow, but the 14,000-pound plow began rolling and he tried to jump into the driver’s seat to stop it.
Renner has been a big-screen mainstay after it became apparent he could hold his own in Hollywood’s action blockbusters. As The American Tribune wrote, the actor has featured prominently in big-budget films stretching back nearly two decades.
Renner first came to prominence in supporting roles in movies like 2003’3 S.W.A.T and later for his Oscar-nominated performance in 2008’s The Hurt Locker. He would later be nominated again for a Best Supporting Actor award for 2010’s The Town.
It was the Marvel franchise that elevated Renner to superstardom for his portrayal of comic book character Hawkeye, which first hit the big screen in 2011 when he suited up for the first Thor release.
Renner subsequently played the part of Jason Bourne and appeared in several Mission: Impossible renditions.
