The Department of Justice (DOJ) is reportedly considering bringing criminal charges against former United States Institute for Peace (USIP) employees who sought to prevent the Trump Administration from making leadership changes at the controversial think tank. USIP workers destroyed locks, obstructed entrances, and distributed inflammatory fliers to obstruct the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
For context, DOGE eventually called the police to secure USIP’s $500 million facility, which was handed over to the Government Services Administration (GSA). After the protracted fight, over 300 staffers were fired, and DOGE announced the discovery of widespread fraud, including payments to Iran and the Taliban.
The drama began on March 17, 2025, when DOGE announced that the members of the USIP team were escorted out of the building. It said, “Mr. Moose denied lawful access to Kenneth Jackson, the Acting USIP President (as approved by the USIP Board). @DCPoliceDept arrived onsite and escorted Mr. Jackson into the building. The only unlawful individual was Mr. Moose, who refused to comply, and even tried to fire USIP’s private security team when said security team went to give access to Mr. Jackson.”
After he was fired, George Moose, USIP’s acting President, tried to convince reporters that DOGE was acting illegally. He said, “DOGE has broken into our building. What has happened here is an illegal takeover by elements of the executive branch of a private non-profit.”
Providing additional context, Elon Musk, the head of DOGE, said, “Any government institution is most likely to be the opposite of its name.” Following up, the tech CEO said, “They deleted a terabyte of financial data to cover their crimes, but they don’t understand technology, so we recovered it .”
Adding to the scandal, Anna Kelly, White House deputy press secretary, told the Daily Caller that Trump will hold these entitled swamp creatures accountable. She said, “Eleven board members were lawfully removed, and remaining board members appointed Kenneth Jackson acting president.”
Building on that point, she slammed the brazen insubordination shown by the USIP workers. She added, “Rogue bureaucrats will not be allowed to hold agencies hostage. The Trump administration will enforce the President’s executive authority and ensure his agencies remain accountable to the American people.”

After the dust settled, DOGE was able to dig into the controversial think tank, and they uncovered endemic fraud. The department said, “Each year, the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) receives $55M in congressional (taxpayer) funds. – Prior management would sweep excess funds into its private Endowment (zero congressional oversight). -In the past 10 years, USIP has transferred ~$13M to its private Endowment, mainly used for private events and travel.”
Responding to this stunning revelation, users were incensed and took to the comments to express their emotions. One of the comments read, “Thank you for all of this incredible work. Why the left is against this is crazy. Did their parents teach them there WAS a money tree? I know my dad made sure I knew where money came from and had me working from 8 years old. ”
