Famous Christian actor Kirk Cameron has recently been touring different locations around the country to perform story hours for young children. During the story hours Cameron reads his new book “As You Grow” published by Brave Books.
These readings have proven to be very popular, as massive lines form outside the events where parents and their children are eager to hear the Christian message in Cameron’s book. At a recent reading at a Southern California library, it is reported there were nearly 1000 attendees.
The Daily Wire reported:
On Saturday, the 52-year-old actor hosted a story time at the Placentia Library, about 30 miles outside of Los Angeles, where his publisher told the Washington Examiner around 1,000 parents and kids showed up to hear the new book.
“All the forces of darkness are no match for moms and dads who are committed to God, and to their family, and to teaching their children,” Cameron told the crowd during the reading.
Despite obvious demand from thousands of families around the country, many libraries are refusing to host the actor’s story hour. Apparently, Cameron and his publisher reached out to dozens of libraries around the country to plan stories hours and were initially rejected by all of them.
The Post Millennial reported on the matter:
Brave Books knows what they are talking about. The book tour for As You Grow has been contentious, to say the least. Cameron and Brave first approached 55 libraries asking if they would host the reading, only to be rejected by all of them. Cameron wrote open letters to the libraries, asking why his reading had been rejected despite those libraries also hosting Drag Queen Story Hours, which in New York City are sponsored by the local City Council.
However, Cameron didn’t back down and petitioned these tax-payer funded, public institutions to allow him to read and was eventually granted permission to read his book at libraries in Scarsdale, Indianapolis, and the aforementioned reading in California.
Cameron stated that his book, “teaches kids biblical wisdom, through the seasons of life and how to grow the fruits of the Spirit, which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self control.”
“You think everybody would be thrilled with something like that,” the actor said, “And so I wanted to do a book reading at a public library, since lots of people like to do those. I was denied by over 55 Zero libraries, which also host Drag Queen Story Hours.”
The Twitter account of Cameron’s publisher, BRAVE story hour, tweeted footage of the event in Southern California. The caption read, “Nobody can stand in the way of God fearing, loving fathers and mothers! Despite the downpour of rain, these BRAVE patriots came out to support @KirkCameron‘s LIVE book reading! Thank you, Placentia! We will be back soon, California!”

It is encouraging to see such interest in hearing the biblical message of God. Despite efforts to silence the word of God, Christians are finding a way to prevail and spread the good word.
