During an interview with Matt Gaetz, President Donald Trump’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin revealed an unprecedented tide of fraud, waste, and financial abuse at the agency, specifically during the Biden Administration.
For context, in a previous statement, Zeldin explained how Biden’s government used the EPA as a slush fund for corruption and far-left causes. As we reported, he said, “This is EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin. One of my very top priorities at EPA is to be an excellent steward of your hard-earned tax dollars. There will be zero tolerance of any waste and abuse. An extremely disturbing video circulated two months ago featuring a Biden EPA political appointee talking about how they were tossing gold bars off the Titanic.”
Further describing the problem in an interview with Matt Gaetz on March 26, 2025, Zeldin explained the massive fraud he uncovered at the controversial agency. Gaetz began by asking the EPA head if previous administrations had weaponized his agency. Gaetz started by saying, “Do you believe the Biden administration was using the EPA as a political slush fund, more than a tool to clean up our environment?”
Responding to the question, Zeldin confirmed the rumors of political bias swirling around the EPA. He replied, “It was 100% EPA that was absolutely being used to push out this green slush fund to their friends by design. The director of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund leaves one of these NGOs, goes to work at the Biden administration to design this whole setup, and then sees his former employer get $5 billion.”
Continuing, Zeldin expressed how this corruption was present at every level of the agency. He added, “I mean, we’ve seen it on the smaller grants as well. One person who is a CEO of a nonprofit was serving on the White House Environmental Justice Council, applied for $20 million, got it, even though they only received just over $2 million over the course of the prior three years.”
Building on that point, he explored how EPA money went to fund activist groups instead of ending pollution. Zeldin stated, “So again, the more you dig into this, the more you realize that this was a green slush fund that was going to left-wing activist groups, rather than going directly towards remediating environmental issues. So to the heart of your question, are we providing clean air, land, and water?”

Concluding his remarks, Zeldin explained how the EPA chose to pay off their friends instead of protecting the environment. He said, “This isn’t money that was spent directly towards remediating environmental issues. This was money going through their friends, and in some cases, going through multiple middlemen, and each of these middlemen being able to pull their own fees out for their own benefit, and the dilution of that American tax dollar is very obvious to us.”
Conservatives were incensed when a clip of the interview was posted. One of the comments read, “DOGE: EPA Administrator Zeldin has revealed the agency is a massive crime scene – the largest heist in world history took place in plain sight. Biden funneled billions to Democrat NGOs in the name of climate change.”
