Though CNN was at one point pretending to return to a supposed history of unbiased reporting on important issues, it has, particularly since the November election, returned to what it is known for, which is attacking President Trump in a ridiculous and unending way. Such has been more evident than ever with its reporting on the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), as laid bare by Stephen Miller in a mid-February interview.
In that interview, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller sounded off on the talking points pushed by CNN anchor Brianna Keilar, who was attempting to discredit DOGE and its cuts of federal government waste, fraud, and abuse. Miller pressed Keilar on the matter of why she wasn’t happy to see waste and fraud cut.
When Keilar tried discrediting the DOGE cuts and framing them as somehow putting Americans at risk, Miller hammered her. Beginning that pushback, he snapped that while CNN is worried about federal bureaucrats having to find real jobs, the American people want to see accountability from their government.
Making that point about the difference in what CNN and the American people want, Miller said, “I realize that even a brief interruption in federal employment is a great crisis for you and for CNN, what the American people see is a government that is finally delivering on the promise of accountability under President Trump.”
Keilar then pretended that DOGE was putting America’s nuclear program at risk, an incorrect worry. Miller, hitting that talking point and the general sentiment behind it, said, “You are clearly trying to debate me. And I will be as excited as I want to be about the fact we are saving Americans billions of dollars… you don’t care about this issue. Your colleagues don’t care about this issue, but we care about this issue.”
Then, a bit later on, as Keilar kept trying to discredit the DOGE cuts and what they represent, Miller demanded of her and answer as to why she is so opposed to DOGE slashing waste and fraud from the federal government’s massive spending. He snapped, “Why aren’t you celebrating the cuts that are being instituted?” Watch the exchange here:

Conservatives on X were quick to praise Miller. Gunther Eagleman, for example, wrote, “Stephen Miller just ended this lady’s career. Yet another embarrassing moment for CNN as they try to propagandize their way through reporting on the Trump admin. Absolute MIC DROP moment. WHY AREN’T YOU CELEBRATING THE CUTS?'”
A commenter on that post from Eagleman noted that CNN was getting hammered by Miller because it was so detached from reality and what Americans will celebrate, saying, “Stephen Miller just handed CNN another brutal reality check. If cutting waste and saving taxpayers billions isn’t worth celebrating, what is?
”
Another commenter noted that Miller had brought the heat and utterly wrecked CNN’s Keilar, meaning he might not be brought back on. That commenter said, “I think this is Steve Millers last interview on CNN. He just destroys them. They are still opposed to Musk finding waste, fraud, and abuse. The richest man in the world who founded Pay Pal doesn’t want your social security numbers.”
