As President Donald Trump has stepped back into power and proven to be ambitious in enacting his promised agenda, liberal bureaucrats are “panicking” and plotting to resist the commander-in-chief. A slew of recent posts on Reddit from federal employees indicates that many bureaucrats are deeply concerned just over a week into the administration.
One such post appeared on the r/fednews subreddit, titled, “New orders that counter to your morals.” The user, on a throwaway account under the fear of being reported, explained their struggle with the recent orders that President Trump has handed down. Without substantiating, they claimed that some initiatives even contradicted the law.
“Long time fed here. (But new account here because I don’t know who can report me and who can’t)
I’ve been a fed since the early days of the W Bush administration, so I’ve seen my share of transitions. Some good, some less good, but I’ve never seen anything like what I’m seeing now. And I find myself struggling with these new orders, some to the contradiction of actual laws. (No, I’m not a lawyer but I can read a statute),” the user said. So my question is, are any of you also struggling, and if so, how are you coping with it. Thank you, and I hope you all are ok,” they concluded.
The MAGA X account captive dreamer reacted to the Reddit post, writing, “The deep state is real and it’s panicking.” A common complaint among conservatives is that the “deep state” thwarted the first Trump administration through internal opposition within the federal government. This draws into question the nature of career bureaucrats and their influence over policy. See the post below:
Another post on the r/somethingiswrong2024 subreddit stated, “Really need you guys right now.” The user wrote, “I’m sorry, I know it’s off-topic, but I’m literally crying. I knew you guys would be the only ones in my life to understand.” They added, “I work for the Department of Health and Human Services and my whole life is falling apart. I’m trying to keep it together but it’s so hard. This administration is just so evil. The fact that they STOLE this election is infuriating.”
The post went on to outline specific policies that the Trump administration is enforcing on federal employees. “That we have to return to office for 5 days a week. I work fully remote and am now going to have to commute in 1.5 hours each way (so 3 hours of commute time),” they lamented. The user added “that we need to get rid of all DEl. Aside from evil and inhumane this is, literally all of our programs encompass AND ARE BUILT on DEl policies. It’s even baked into our contracts. They are nitpicking EVERYTHING – all language that sounds non-white. It’s worse than is being reported.”

The user concluded, “This is pure evil that we’re dealing with – not just a stolen election. It’s a dictatorship, I assure you 100%. Please keep me in your thoughts because I’m not sure how much longer I can deal with this. Thank you for listening to me. I log on here each morning, and you brave souls give me the hope I need to power through each day.”
The American Tribune recently reported that a shocking number of Democratic federal employees would seek to defy the Trump administration. A study from Scott Rasmussen’s Napolitan Institute found that “If President[-elect Donald] Trump gave them a legal order which they thought was bad policy, nearly two-thirds (64%)” of “Federal Government Managers” who voted for former Vice President Kamala Harris “would ignore the order and do what they thought was best.” Furthermore, the poll found that only 17% of Harris supporting career bureaucrats would follow orders from Trump.
