During President Donald Trump’s post-inauguration speech before his crowd of supporters in the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., he gave a shout-out to his 18-year-old son Barron Trump, who played a critical role in his reelection bid. As Trump gave credit to Barron before the arena, the crowd went wild, breaking out into a roaring cheer.
It has been reported that in the months leading up to the election, Barron advised his father’s campaign on reaching Gen Z voters through popular podcasts where the younger demographic consumes most of their media. Trump made numerous appearances on the biggest shows, speaking with podcasters such as Joe Rogan, Theo Von, Adin Ross, and many others.
“I have a very tall son named Baron. Has anyone ever heard of him,” the president said, as the arena cheered. “He knew the youth vote. You know, we won the youth vote by 36 points. And he was saying, Dad, I got to go out and do this one or that one. And we did a lot of them. And he respects them all. He understood them very well.
“And he said, Dad, you got to go out do Joe Rogan to all these guys. And we did,” Trump continued. “We did. And Joe Rogan was great. They were all great.” Trump sat down with Rogan in late October, just days away from the election, in a conversation that was viewed well over 50 million times on YouTube. Notably, former Vice President Kamala Harris declined to do an interview with Rogan in the same format.
The American Tribune reported on First Lady Melania Trump’s recent comments about the role her son played in her massive November win. “He is a grown young man. I’m very proud of him about his knowledge, even about politics and giving an advice to his father,” Melania said, before outlining his extensive knowledge about how to reach younger voters.
“He brought in so many young people he knows his generation, because nowadays the young generation, they don’t sit in front of TV anymore. They’re all on the tablets, they’re on the phones and all of these podcasts and streamers,” she said. “He was very vocal, and he gave an advice to his father. And was incredible how he brought in a success, because he knew exactly who his father needs to contact and to talk to.”
RNC Chair Lara Trump almost made similar comments about Barron during an appearance on Patrick David Bet’s podcast last year. She said, “And Baron will call, and he’ll say, Dad, I have an idea as to how you can get more votes. And it’ll be, you know, you need to go meet, you know, go to this baseball stadium or do that, whatever. He’s always throwing ideas out there. And so, yeah, we got to give Baron some some serious credit.”
