Jeremy Renner, Marvel’s Hawkeye who was seriously injured in a snowplow accident earlier this month, shared an update from his hospital bed commemorating his 52nd birthday spent alongside his huge medical team.
Renner posted a captioned image to Instagram thanking the incredible medical team for their support and care during his time of convalescence.
“Thank You Renowned Medical ICU team for beginning this journey,” Renner shared on his massive social media account. Renner also shared a video with the 50 Cent’s 2003 hit “In Da Club” which features the lyrics “party like it’s your birthday” blaring in the background.
Breitbart reported that Renner’s accident came as a result of “blunt chest trauma” resulting from a 14,000-pound low rolling into him. Renner was not driving the Sno-Cat at the time and had attempted to jump into the driver’s seat to prevent its continued falling.
He was hospitalized in critical, but stable, condition in an intensive care unit Sunday morning after he suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries in the incident near his home on Mt. Rose Highway, about 25 minutes from downtown Reno.
Breitbart added:
Renner used his Sno-Cat, also known as a PistenBully, to free a vehicle driven by a family member from the snow, but the 14,000-pound plow began rolling and he tried to jump into the driver’s seat to stop it.
Movie fans are hoping for a full recovery from Renner so that he can continue starring in epic action-adventure films that so many have come to know him by.
Renner first came to prominence in supporting roles in movies like 2003’3 S.W.A.T and later for his Oscar-nominated performance in 2008’s The Hurt Locker. He would later be nominated again for a Best Supporting Actor award for 2010’s The Town.
It was the Marvel franchise that elevated Renner to superstardom for his portrayal of comic book character Hawkeye, which first hit the big screen in 2011 when he suited up for the first Thor release.
Renner subsequently played the part of Jason Bourne and appeared in several Mission: Impossible renditions.
His last turn as Hawkeye received mixed reviews, primarily because Marvel’s Phase 4 continues to practice what many critics term a classic bait-and-switch. A Disney+ streaming show ran under the headline Hawkeye, but the main character played by Renner was mostly overshadowed and outmatched by a younger and less experienced female character, who nevertheless outperformed the experienced and famously expert sharpshooter.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam indicated he did not believe Renner was impaired at the time of the accident and that it was nothing more than a tragic situation fueled by Renner’s desire to help a disastrous situation near his home.
“We do not believe Mr. Renner was impaired at all and we believe this is a tragic accident,” Balaam said. “Based on the investigation, it’s at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the PistonBully.”
