The Netflix star José de la Torre, known for his role in the hit show “Toy Boy,” has tragically passed away at the age of 37 after a short battle with what has been described as a “serious illness.” De la Torre’s death sparked an outpouring of remorse from fellow actors and actresses who knew him in the entertainment industry.

According to reports, the Spanish celebrity briefly suffered from a serious medical condition, which he informed fans of earlier this year.  De la Torre withdrew from acting in June to undergo more serious treatment for the illness, which he unfortunately succumbed to.  The actor’s funeral was hosted earlier this month in Spain’s Córdoba Province at the Parish of San Francisco Solano.

“I can’t believe you’re gone so soon. I’m devastated by your departure. I’m sending kisses to all of your family and friends,” Spanish singer Pablo Alborán shared on social media, reacting to the heartbreaking news. “We’ll never forget you Jose. Wherever you are, I’m sure you’re wearing a Hawaiian shirt, a killer moustache, and those sunglasses like the ones we wore that day.” Actress Luisa Martín said, “It breaks my heart to think I’ll never hear your voice again, but I’ll keep talking to you. Love you endlessly, José.” Spanish actress and singer Lolita Flores, whom The Mirror reported spoke at his funeral, stated “It breaks my heart to think I’ll never hear your voice again, but I’ll keep talking to you. Love you endlessly, José.”

De la Torre shared his final Instagram post in early June, showing him appearing healthy during a vacation. “The happiness of arriving in the Canary Islands, seeing your friends, grab a mojito and start singing until your voice breaks,” he said in the post. “That’s been Desalia 2024.” He continued, “And that’s thanks to the team behind @ronbarcelospain who goes above and beyond every year.”

Spanish actress and singer Lolita Flores commented on de la Torre’s passing, posting on Instagram, “How hard it is for me to accept that you’re gone, without even knowing you … Life is so unfair sometimes. You’re handsome on the outside and on the inside.” Actress Luisa Martín also posted on social media, “It breaks my heart to think I’ll never hear your voice again, but I’ll keep talking to you. Love you endlessly, José.”

The Instagram account Hollywood Life posted about the actor’s death, “Spanish actor José de la Torre, best known for his role in Netflix’s Toy Boy, has passed away at the age of 37 following a months-long fight with an undisclosed serious illness. His death was reported on December 5, with a funeral held the following day in his hometown of Montilla, Spain.”

The post added, “De la Torre revealed his illness in June and stepped back from public life to focus on treatment. Tributes have poured in from friends and colleagues. Actress Luisa Martín described him as a “very bright light” and shared her heartbreak at his passing. Similarly, actress Lolita Flores expressed deep sorrow, calling his death “too soon” and “unfair.””
