Famous UFC fighter Colby Covington recently called out NBA Superstar LeBron James over his association with rapper P Diddy, who is currently the subject of federal charges and lawsuits related to sexual abuse. During a press conference, the fighter took the opportunity to suggest James should be held accountable for his alleged involvement with Diddy’s actions.
Covington began, “I start this off. You know, since I’m the man of the hour, the man of the show, I want to ask LeBron, what does he mean by there’s no party like a Diddy party. I truly want to know. And not only that, LeBron, how many Diddy parties, have you actually been to? I’m really curious to know. And is that the reason you left social media, because all the backlash you were getting for going to so many Diddy parties? Just … just pathetic man.”
The fighter continued, suggesting people should not look up to LeBron because of this seeming association with Diddy, along with his other political rhetoric. “People think this guy’s a role model….wants to defund the police, the most Patriot people in America serving and protecting our country.” Profanely sounding off on the NBA player, “LeBron, you’re a fucking scumbag and I hope you get locked up in the same cell with Diddy.”
As accusations about P Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, have mounted, a clip has resurfaced on social media showing LeBron professing, “There ain’t no party like a Diddy party,” while on a video call with the rapper. Reports have come out in recent months indicating that egregious acts of abuse may have occurred at such events hosted by Combs, leading some to question what LeBron was referring to in his comments.
Demonstrating the backlash against LeBron, The American Tribune reported on an incident at an NFL game where a fan yelled at LeBron, during a matchup between the Rams and Eagles. The fan shouted at the NBA superstar, “Bron! Bron! We know you was at them Diddy parties, n***a, we know you was there. We know you was at them Diddy parties!”
Earlier this year, the DOJ released a statement on the legal situation surrounding Combs, which said, “Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and William S. Walker, the Acting Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (“HSI”), announced that SEAN COMBS, a/k/a “Puff Daddy,” a/k/a “P. Diddy,” a/k/a “PD,” a/k/a “Love,” was arrested last night and charged in a three count Indictment with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The Indictment unsealed today alleges that between 2008 and the present, COMBS abused, threatened, and coerced women and others, and led a racketeering conspiracy that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice, among other crimes.”
