In a very sweet and tear-jerking cable news moment on the evening of Tuesday, December 10, top Fox News Channel host Brett Baier appeared to choke up a bit when congratulating fellow FNC host Greg Gutfeld on his newborn, apparently healthy, baby daughter, who was born on the same December day.
Though it was Baier who had that sweet moment, it fell to the co-hosts of “The Five,” one of Gutfeld’s usual shows, who announced the news. Doing so, co-host Dana Perino read off Gutfeld’s statement about his baby daughter. Beginning, she introduced it by saying, “You might have noticed that our friend Greg Gutfeld hasn’t been here for a couple of weeks, and it’s for with a good reason. This is a statement that he sent me today, so I’m reading this as if I am Greg.”
Perino then started reading off the statement, including the funny jokes about the baby girl and her characteristics. Doing so, Perino said, “‘It is with great joy that my wife, Elena, and I have welcomed a baby girl into the world. Mira is healthy with a real set of lungs. She has Elena’s beautiful eyes and my rock hard abs. We are hard at work teaching her three languages and putting her through rigorous workout routine.’”
She added, “‘She’s already very observant and has asked if Jesse wears a toupee. I told her that he definitely wears a wig.’” Gutfeld concluded the statement by saying, “‘As you can understand, we value our privacy and we thank everyone for the good wishes, and now I have to go stop Gus from licking her face.’”
Watters then chimed in and shared his own congratulatory statement, saying, “Congratulations, Greg, Elena and Mira, welcome to the world. We are excited for you and enjoy this time together. We miss you, but we we are there in spirit that’s not changing diapers. Some of us miss you. Others are enjoying the time without you. Take as long as you want.”
In any case, Brett Baier, in his sweet moment, congratulated Gutfeld, his wife, and his daughter while looking a bit choked up. he said, “Well. Greg, Elena, Mira, Congratulations from all of us in Washington.” Then, getting back to his normal show programming and comments, Baier said, “Thank you. Good evening. I’m Bret Baier.”
Posting that clip on X (formerly Twitter), one person who describes herself as a “Christian, Conservative, Patriot 🇺🇸” said that Baier getting choked up about the great news for Gutfeld’s family was the “sweetest thing,” saying, “Did Brett Baier get choked up tonight congratulating Greg Gutfeld and wife on their new baby? 🥹 If not then I cried for nothing! 😂 Sweetest thing ever..” Watch him here:
In a post on X about his baby girl when she was born and the good news was announced, Gutfeld joked that he had set the standard in how to keep a huge secret, and thanked those who had shared such kind words and celebrations with him. Doing so, he said, “see, thats how you keep a secret. thanks to all the nice words! see ya in a few!”
