Back in January of 2024, Charles Payne, host of Fox Business Channel’s “Making Money with Charles Payne,” commented on the New Hampshire primary race and why former President Donald Trump was running for election again, saying that he was doing it because fighting back was the natural thing for him to do.
That came when Payne commented on how the left frequently goes on the attack against now-President-elect Donald Trump for how he frequently makes non-politically correct comments when slamming his political opponents. Payne argued that Trump’s language and political career aren’t narcissism but instead self-defense.
Payne said, commenting on President-elect Trump’s language and why he speaks the way he does about the things he does, “I don’t think it’s narcissism. I think it’s — you’ve lived in New York long enough, you know, maybe it’s a New York thing — someone punches you, you punch them back harder. That’s the way I grew up in Harlem.”
That’s when Fox News Channel’s much-disliked liberal personality, Jessica Tarlov, chimed in and cut off Payne, attacking Trump for somehow putting the country at stake with his opinions and commentary, as if Trump’s words when he’s fighting with his opponents could end America “Not if the country’s at stake, right?”
Payne fired back, noting that the American people have generally supported Trump’s language, or at least seen it as a relative non-issue in terms of his political career, as he was already elected president one time. Making that point, he said, “He became president of the United States with that same personality.”
Then, going on the counter-attack, Payne noted that really it is President Biden who is the one demeaning and denigrating half of America’s voting population, as shown by his rhetoric surrounding how allegedly awful supporters of now-President-elect Donald Trump are merely because they support him.
Making that point about Biden’s vitriol-filled rhetoric, Payne said, “Biden’s anger and hatred and vitriol for MAGA is far more, worse than President Trump’s individual battles with someone who crosses him. That is something that is really detrimental to this country — that the president of the United States despises half of the United States.”
Then, as Tarlov tried to interject and defend Biden’s rhetoric, along with the similar rhetoric of those in liberal outlets like CNN and MSNBC, Payne snapped, “The bottom line is he says it. He has vitriol for them and so has MSNBC and so does CNN and so does The New York Times. They have vitriol for half of the nation.”
Concluding, and further commenting on how that side of the political aisle views Americans, particularly Trump supporters, smearing them as being all sorts of awful things, Payne told Tarlov, “They don’t look at them like fellow Americans, and it’s unfortunate. They try to paint them as racist. All the things that they do to their fellow Americans who simply want a safe home, a safe community for their children and prosperity. They want the same thing! But they demean them all the time.”
